I had not got around to registering my ANZ Visa to be swept monthly by the CBA, and missed the payment date on month two of having this card. Dumbass. Paid it in full two days late.
When the statement came last week, a $4300 balance had incurred over $100 in interest.
I rang to ask how that was calculated, and the call centre guy told be it was wound back to the start of the billing period... and at ~21%, there you go.
I thanked him, told him it was my fault, and that whilst I wasn't happy, it was my own doing.
He then offered to see if he could get the charge waived.
I held the line for 3 mins... voila! Interest fee reversed.
Class act by the ANZ. Not every a the bank hands back money that is rightfully theirs.
