I went to cancel and they offered to waive the $299 Fee I had when I opened the card. The Card is now $299 in credit and I still plan to cancel next month.

Win Win for me. Usually they offer to waive the upcoming Annual Fee not the one I paid for previously.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

I don't quite see how keeping it would help ones credit rating...
From the Veda site

Age of credit report
The date your credit report was created may impact your VedaScore. E.g. a relatively new file may indicate a different level of risk than an older report.

From what I have heard of the US where they have Comprehensive Credit reporting they sometimes recommend you keep your oldest accounts open for this.

Of course I suspect this is just a sales line here, I juts closed two accounts today and they thried really hard to keep me in both cases!

Called ANZ balance transfer team on 1800 007 511 and asked if any balance transfer deal was available to me as an existing customer. The CSR asked if I was willing to sign up for a new card, on declining that he immediately offered me 16 month 0% BT.

Thanks for that... did they cut you a cheque or insist on bpay details to transfer to?

AFAIK no one other than Citibank offers cheque to self. In regards to your question I did not enquire if cheque to self was available as my 6 month 0% Citibank promo was about to expire therefore i ended up transferring that over.

To save me reading the 1000 posts in this thread, I received this card in early November, and made the min spend by early Dec. When should I expect my 50k bonus points?

Some of us were lucky very early on in the promotion and received the points within days or weeks, but those out of the ordinary credits dried up pretty quickly. The rest of the points were credited when the 3 month period after the minimum spend was met was reached. Your points should appear some time in April based on the current timeline we're seeing.

However, I don't actually think you'll receive the 50k bonus. The original offer was 50k, but that expired some months ago and was change to a lesser, 25k offer. By the time you'd applied in early Nov it would have been the 25k offer.

Still a good deal for the latecomers. Unfortunately some of us applied for the Black and Platinum but were denied the basic card. The T&Cs on this card exclude us :(

'Not available in conjunction with other offers, packages or promotions, or when transferring from an existing ANZ credit card or where you currently hold or have closed an ANZ Frequent Flyer, ANZ Frequent Flyer Gold, ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum or ANZ Frequent Flyer Black credit card within the previous six months'

Bummer huh?

The offer is valid until the end of March - they might push it out another 3 months until the end of June (since this offer has been pushed out a few times already) - so if you cancelled it last year you could be in with a shot, you never know...

Hmm thanks for the info. So should I get this 50k now or wait for the 75k?? Just not sure on the fee for the 75k???

New customer defined in the T&C as not holding a card in the previous 6 months. Time to close my first 3 to position for an offer around July hopefully.

Also says:

"This offer applies only once per customer."

Which I interpret as being if you apply for more than one card, you only get the 50k bonus once.

The difference is that you only need one eligible purchase, not $1500.

Rang and cancelled one card today, very unpleasant experience getting grilled by ANZ staff. I've learnt my lesson, if it happens again, will immediately request to talk to the supervisor.

Similar experience last night when I cancelled partners card. Nearly like "....you jumped on a 50k bonus and now your leaving us, well thanks a lot". I said my card is still active and I am putting 5k a month thru it, might rethink that now as well.

You should tell them, that is exactly why you are cancelling the card. Because all the banks only look after those new clients not the existing ones, so you will reapply when another promo is on.
