I'm (in)patiently waiting for some bills to arrive so I can spend $1500 on +1's and my cards....

Pre-pay them?

I did that with several of my scheduled bills to ensure that I met the $1500 spend on the 2 cards I have.

Although I still haven't received the 50,000 points yet.

Hi I just wanted to thank people for posting about this offer! I saw it the day before the previous deadline, applied for 3 cards, got them made the spend and now waiting on the points.

Only slight disappointment is ANZ Black's travel insurance is only for international not domestic and thought I'd mention here. My Qantas Premium Amex covers both and I have claimed on it a few times and always been excellent. Tossing up whether to keep the Black and the Premium after the year is up.

Upside is the ANZ Black has domestic car rental excess cover which is a great saving. Kate

So far no evidence of anyone getting points on multiple cards (AFIK). I got 3 and SWMBO one and have 2 x 25,000 point with the other 2 x 25,000 waiting for transfer. I think that will be my lot.

Sigh.

Just got my statement, with a $370 annual fee charge, along with a rewards charge (or something to that effect) of $110. All this after they sent me the wrong card initially (applied for black, received the base card). Then the guy at the branch I visited to verify my identity/change to the black card told me there is no black card for QFF.

I anticipate having to call them yet again in 4 months when I don't receive the bonus 50,000 points.

Bank staff seemed to be morons with ANZ and this card.... Said it before and more more people finding the same thing!

Now that is very interesting. An almost identical thing happened to me. I applied for the FF Black but they sent me the rewards Black. They reissued it and have charged me the annual fee.

My branch's total balls up with this, for my parents and I, has lead us to have a meeting with a regional ANZ manager in the coming days. Between the three of us we've been ANZ customers for more than 40 years and this is one inconvenience too many.

Can someone clarify this for me. On the ANZ website it appears to show that only the Rewards Cards have no annual fee attached for the first year, but not the Frequent Flyer cards. I applied for the ANZ Frequent Flyer card and have started spending on that already, and have just reviewed the documentation that came with the card which indicates there is a $95 annual fee payable ($40 account fee and $55 rewards fee). I also applied for the Frequent Flyer Platinum card but haven't heard back about that yet.

I thought that everyone was applying for the FF cards for the Qantas points, not the Rewards cards. Have ANZ changed their T&Cs re no annual fees?

Depends when you applied for the ANZ Frequent Flyer card. The annual fee was waived for the first year if you applied and was approved by 26/8/14.
The new promotion still gives you the 50k points but no waiving of first year annual fee.
Still $95 for 50,000 points is a good deal.

Cheers

Thanks Craig. I was approved for the basic card prior to the 26th, but the 'Key facts about this credit card' sheet still showed the annual fee listed with no mention about first year waiver. Does anyone have a screenshot of the part which indicated the fee would be waived? Might need it if I have to battle with them!

That is disappointing. I would be very frustrated with treatment like that after 40 years of loyalty.

I had a normal transaction account with them when I was in high school, and I remember them screwing me with fees. This is the first time I've held an account with them since, and it seems like some nothing has changed.

But, at the end of the day, it is still going to be 50,000 points for nothing (except a few wasted hours of my time).

Had similar thing happen - but with Platinum - will post full story at later date - these clowns almost make Citi look good.

The key facts sheet doesn't mention the 50,000 points either.
Would be nice if they mentioned that in all the stuff they send out.

Cheers

I agree. Looking forward to hearing how they have messed up other peoples accounts.

Oh yeah, they never sent me the PINs for the black cards either, so that was another trip into a branch. This is probably the most I've had to physically venture into a bank in 5 years

I might be wrong, but I think that might be because the key facts sheet stays the same irrespective of promotions that may run at the time.
