ANZ Platinum, 50k bonus QFF points after $1500 spend, no annual fee first year

Platinum was reached in October (first billing period) and regular in November (second billing period)

Am looking for another card to harvest some QFF points - the bog standard card is only $95 a year and gives you 50 000 points after an "eligible purchase". I couldn't see a mention of how much - no mention of the $1500 above. I've got too many cards as it is (down to four now) but this one isn't expensive it seems and I was thinking of getting a card with a relatively low credit limit to use in certain situations where you don't want them charging extras. It's only 0.5 points per dollar for the Visa though. Maybe the Amex instead?

I tried cancelling mine yesterday as I'm away for a while and wanted it out out the way. I very politely emphasised that it was because the fee is so high - hint hint, and other cc offers are better. I'd liked a no or reduced fee offer.

No such offer was forthcoming, but one of the 2 highish pressure 'retain' agents reminded me that I only need to put $250 on the card to be covered for tavel insurance. On the basis that 2 travel polices may be more use than one, I'll do that, prepay an AUD $300 hotel and cancel the day I return.

I’ve received my 50k points and haven’t touched this card since I met the spending requirements. I have Velocity cards with much better earn rates and don’t value QF points as highly as VA points.

Is there any point in keeping it? I have no intention of paying the second annual fee but that’s not due until November. I just don’t see the point in keeping a card I never intend to use again – even if they waived the next annual fee I doubt I would ever use it again.

I received something in the mail today saying that after a certain date (June 15th?) the ANZ Platinum cards would only earn points on the first $6000 spent on each card (so $6000 on the AMEX, and an additional $6000 on the Visa). This might make a difference to points earn and usefulness of the cards for some users?

I shredded the letters immediately because I'm closing the accounts this week, and it didn't occur to me to pay a whole lot of notice to them. Did anyone else get this?

I got the notification last week that my classic card would be capped at $3K each. It might mean that my cancellation call might be sooner than I had planned. May keep if they waive the fee again or offer me a better card. Otherwise I have no use for it.

I got a letter today to say that my Platinum card is capped at $6K each.

Yes, received the same. I was going to cancel anyway - but now I have a legitimate excuse!

Thinking of applying tonight as I met the criteria (6 months since last holding the ANZ QFF product). Should I? or just wait till tomorrow for the start of a new promotion -and might see a bigger bonus or waiver of annual fee?
