ANZ Platinum, 50k bonus QFF points after $1500 spend, no annual fee first year

you can always be "creative" when it comes to filling out the application form. 9 out of 10 times they don't verify income etc. YMMV

It was this type of creativeness that got me my first ever credit card. I was 18 and was approved for an ANZ FF Gold card (back when Gold was top). When it asked for the value of my home I put $650k. The value was accurate but the application failed to ask (as do modern day applications) if you actually own your home. I didn't and haven't since. But it's my home and that its value.

Applied online last Saturday for the Black card, was not sure if I would be approved as I already have a Platinum with ANZ, and recently applied and got a Maquarie Visa ( thanks for the 40 000 QFF points Mr Maquarie), not to mention Citibank Fee Free signature, CBA Diamond, WWEDRCC, Fee Free Amex, and whatever else I have in my wallet.

Got referred at time of application, but received an email 3 days later to call them, which I did, and they wanted proof of earnings, which I was happy to send as my final pay slip of the year was $124k.
They then offered an alternative of sharing the $35 000 credit limit from my Platinum card, so I was happy to reduce the Platinum to $15000 and have a $20000 limit on the new Black card.

New card approved, no proof of earnings required, and no need for ID check, as I am an existing customer. All this for 10 minutes online application and a further 10 min on the phone, an easy 50 000 QFF points indeed.

Might push my luck and apply for the base card as well, will wait for the Black to arrive first though.

Applied for Black for me and Mrs D. Still waiting to hear after sending in ATO notice.
Was told on phone we would be approved

I was also told on the phone that I would be approved last week. Only for them to start questioning my application when I followed up yesterday.

Update: Just rang ANZ since it's now been 7 working days since applying. First person I talked to said there had been no notes on my file since last Tuesday and that I needed to submit my passport, then hung up on me when I insisted that I had already done so at a branch last Wednesday.

Rang back and got someone who went and checked (and found the documents) when I informed him that I had submitted the requested information at a branch. He then passed me onto the applications team who now want proof of income...

It's a basic card with a $1k limit. How hard does this need to be?

It is begining to sound like the Citi Luck Dip

The fact is I was told over the phone that I would be approved, and now my application is being reviewed further confuses me. But I'm not surprised.

I did email the (further) requested information this morning. Fingers crossed...

Went in for the ID check this morning. Relatively painless and new pin set up straight away which was good.

Will see how much of a hit it put on my credit score and then consider applying for the platinum/black.

At least it's not like NAB when they performed an income check *after* they approved me and sent me cards and letter of offer (cards were blocked from use until I sent in the requested docs).

In contrast my experiences with ANZ have always been smooth sailing.

I wasnt going to apply as thought my new Citibank card (80K bonus points) may hinder my application but after reading this thread with posters stating they were approved with multiple cards, I thought I would give it a go. Approved online for the Black FF card with the whole application process taking less than 10mins - such a walk in the park compared to the Citibank app process!

That sounds rather convoluted. Although I haven't had any issues with NAB.

I am expecting a drop in my score. I have two checks in the past few weeks so it would definitely impact on it.

That's right and is one of the various factors they take into consideration when assessing your credit score.

Sorry - poorly written comment, written in a hurry. What I am curious about is how much this particular application has dropped your credit score...or anyone else's for that matter? Thanks!

After stalking this thread for too long I decided today to apply for it. Can't say no to 50K points :D
I'm just going to get the standard card though as I'm shockingly poor at keeping track of when the annual fee is due and figure if I have to pay $99 that won't be too bad.
I didn't get instant approval online, I had to send a copy of my pay slip so just waiting for follow up on that.

I did the same. Not to mention that I wanted to restrict the credit limit they would give me after I'd seen what's been offered to some here

May apply again for the platinum after I see the hit to the credit score.

Add me to the list of new ANZ customers! :D (At least for some time before the year is up) I applied last night and was referred. By the morning I received a "Congratulations" email.

Had been reading here and decided to specify $1000 (the minimum) on the classic card. The things we do for points!

The whole quote applies to me as well, down to having to send in a payslip.

If ANZ want to hand me 50k points which are at a minimum worth about $400 in Points+Pay, I'll bite.

So my $1520 spend on gift cards going to get me my 50K in points....ozbargain reporting maybe issues?
