Anyone successful in reinstating points without fee?

I stupidly let ~108,000 Hhonors points expire in February.

Email sent to customer service amd they have offered me a link to reinstate at $0.0025 per point which is ~USD270.

I know it's my stupidity that let points expire but is there a way to have points reinstated without fee? I was going to use those points for 2 nights in Hilton Pattaya which cost USD400 for 2 nights so makes my reinstated points close to worthless as I'm likely to earn more with paid stay.

I have come across no reports of success in recent times.

With their current "100%" promotion you can buy 108K Honors points for USD540.

On a USD400 stay (assuming that excludes +++), earn at a base rate earn would be 2000 points. With Current 2K per stay promotion (until May 1 checkout) earn would be be from 4K plus any status bonus.

No the USD400 to stay 2 nights in Hilton Pattaya is including taxes. It may actually be less. And even less on sale.

I may just bite the bullet and pay to get points back and chalk it off as an expensive lesson.
