Anyone here secretly hoping the US will default?

Because it's only a default due to politics not because of genuine problems.
I'd call spending $200 billion more than you have every month a "genuine problem".

The Republicans were right on one point - this problem will not be solved by continually raising the debt ceiling. If someone lives month to month by putting a third of their spending on a credit card you don't help them by increasing their credit limit.

A 12trillion or so - and growing - deficit isn't a genuine problem?

The day after they default if they raise the ceiling the problem would be solved. I just wanted to see what would happen if they did default.

Except by then the damage to confidence of others would likely trigger other reactions. I doubt a default would occur in isolation.

The world would only be in chaos for the period of time the 'tards in Washington continued to play politics...

Maybe, maybe not.
