I need to fly xmas day for work, is there any difference in the meals?

Do the hosties where santa hats?

Not getting my hopes up....

Yep. I think I'd be shot if I missed Christmas lunch!

No idea what to expect. It's been a number of years since I've flown on Christmas day (I usually fly on Christmas eve).

I'm flying across New Year's Eve, arriving at about 1am New Year's Day. It's all in the same timezone so I wonder if they'll do anything.

OpUp's are rarer on xmas day I've found, whereas from Boxing day onwards the chances seem to improve.

I rather like flying Christmas Day. Airports are quieter, staff are happy, things run smoothly.

I am doing MEL-SYD-AUH-LHR on VA/EY in J. It was a tough decision.

I like flying on Xmas day.

There tends to be a special menu in both the F Lounge and in First Class.

I received an Emirates gift pack one year with 2 bottles of wine.

I agree with Taezer that the airport staff seem to be happier.

I flew SYD-LAX on VA last Christmas day and the flight was great! They did serve a Christmas desert and had some decorations on board. It was a good experience.

I used to love working at the airport on Christmas day (penalty rates helped). The way I used to see it for the staff being nicer is because most of the pax are nicer and happier and it usually is pretty quiet :D

Have flown NY Eve and had the captain wish us Happy New Year just before departure for AU and then a second time at 12:01 for the timezone we'd departed from. I'll be flying Christmas Eve this year as well as Christmas Day - a first for me on both counts. (Never a dull moment when you fly as much as we AFFs do . . . . . .)

If you fly Virgin, they will probably wear santas hats ;) Qantas will never ever have that sort of fun onboard.

Flew Christmas Day in 2005 SYD-HNL, we departed SYD after having a late Christmas lunch with family ..... then arrived into HNL on Christmas morning where we celebrated another Christmas day with my friends who have arrived a few days earlier. Two Christmas' in a year :D

I flew Christmas Day PER-MEL for the Boxing Day Test a couple of years ago wearing my Santa hat, and although the QF ground staff and hosties were very pleasant, I still felt the need to donate my hat to lift their spirits.

Yes! Do it regularly to get to family in QLD and WA. Thankfully there's no festive frivolity on QF, its all business as usual - which I much prefer - although on one occasion the CSM wished me a Merry Christmas when he came to do his meet'n'greet on a SYD-PER flight.

I was flying one Christmas Day and the lounge angels at the ADL Qantas Club were wearing reindeer antlers.

I'll be in the air again this Christmas Eve/Day.

I found the grinch!

Did it years ago on an Ansett flight PER-BNE. I seem to recall a couple of staff wearing santa hats and a large plastic "candy" cane full of real candy canes given out as a prize.:)
