I understood ASA will be removed soon. I am planning to burn my remaining 200k points. Can I redeem an ASA tickets for my wife and kids?

I hate the huge surcharges from QF. For an award ticket from MEL-PVG would cost 36k plus AUD300. Don't feel the award ticket is valuable at all. Any ideas how to maximize the points values?

I don't know, but to redeem an ASA you have to ring up anyway, as they can't be booked online, so you can ask then. If they say no, 2 possible ways round:
If you're not confident about their knowledgeability, hang up and try a different operator.
Or, transfer the required number of points ( find out when you ring up the first time) to the relevant relatives QF accounts, then book in their name.
Lots of people have reported booking their family on these, so I can't see why not.

Yes it is possible to book for a relative. I booked for my sister-in-law a couple of weeks ago.

Just for clarification, ASAa are able to be booked online (as points plus pay). ASAs booked into U class must be booked over the phone.

Have a look at the ASA Reference thread for a link to the spreadsheet to get an idea of what is possible from/near MEL.
