Any routes I have missed?

Hey folks

Firstly thanks for making such a wonderful forum. Thinking about posting in the help with flights section but believe I need to get up to 5 posts first - and also thought I might try and help myself first, not that I mind paying others to of course!

I am trying to fly home for Christmas from Sydney to Dublin - although could be Belfast / London / paris / Amsterdam (all have flights to Dublin) - just getting me back to that side of the world.

My problem seems to be trying to come up with clever route options and wondered would there be many I had not thought of - or obvious ones i am missing?

Looked at:
MH - SYD --> KUL --> AMS / LHR / LGW
EY - SYD --> AUH --> DUB

Obviously no availability on any QF routes via DXB. Are there other hubs / airlines people who have flown this route would suggest please? Using the KVS tool which is great but need some advice on potential other routes i may not have thought of.

Finding award seats is tough for Christmas, especially less than eight weeks out.

Another option you may look for are Qatar Airlines to/from DOH eg. SYD-PER(QF)- then to DOH-Europe with QR.

Other options, but definitely slim pickings, via HND with QF/JL then JL to Europe.

AA via LAX?
CX via HKG (although same issue probably no availability)?
LA via SCL?

Try using Matrix - ITA Software by Google and plug in your departure / destination and it should show a ton of options and pricing and might give you some ideas where you could look for award seats (which I gather is the aim?)


If you want to look for paid fares (non-oneworld), ita will give you some ideas too

Just thinking more about this, the other option to consider is an award fare from eg. Asia-EU vv and then a paid fare to/from the asian departure point.

Thanks folks some really good options there. It is going to be a busy weekend looking for flight options for me! I will do well to get it sorted. Have found a route out now to get back sorted!

I actually have the AA miles so I am looking for an awards flight with AA or their partners. Happy to go Business or First as have enough miles for either I believe. Thanks

There are some awards in January in F for DUB-SYD (QF10 leaving DUB on 18 January) and also later on BA via HND. You could also return around the same time DUB-LHR-SEA-HNL in F (62500 miles) and choose your route back from HNL after you have warmed up. Luck of the Irish!
