Qantas
Silver
Hi everyone,
This might be asked before, so sorry about double up!

I'm currently a silver member with 420 points. My anniversary is end of Feb and I'm planning a return trip to Tokyo in Jan. This will give me additional 120 SC (I'm getting discount premium economy), but sadly not enough to get me to Gold status. (420+120+50 bonus = 590). Here are my 2 questions:

1.Considering I'll lose all of my SC by my anniversary, is there any point to fly Qantas for this trip? I can get a cheaper deal with ANA and it's also a better airplane (787 in compare to Qantas's old 747).

2.If I request classic upgrading using QFF points to upgrade my discount premium economy seat to Business (and get accepted) do you I get SC points for premium economy or business?

Many thanks in advance!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Only you can answer the question as to if the extra SC's are worthwhile (i.e don't forget Life Time Status), however to answer question 2 you will get the SC as per the original booking class.

In those circumstances, I think no point in flying Qantas (I'm assuming you'll retain Silver?).

You'll get SCs for the class/fare bought, not the upgraded class.

The only reasons for flying QF would be to have the possibility of a points upgrade and, if you are planning for it, the SCs counting towards life time status.

Considering I'm retaining silver till Feb 2021 and lifetime status is too far away for me for now, I think I'll just go with ANA in this case.
Thanks everyone!
