Hi all,

I have been offered a second hand De'Longhi DEWC46D wine fridge from a colleague for $300.

Can't say I know a great deal about wine storage, but this must be better than my current solution of keeping my "good" wine cool under the house in an effort toprotect it from the disgusting Brisbane climate (only very recently started working on my collection)! To the untrained observer, it looks like I am getting a good deal.... but can anyone confirm, or alternatively warn me off?

Comments appreciated.

Thanks.

It's $300.00. Instead of $1500. Stores 48 ? Bottles, seems reasonable to me.

I've had this one:

Delonghi DEWC166S 166 Btls Wine Storage Cabinet | Appliances Online

coming up to 3 years. No problems.

Whilst not int he same league as Vintec, my Delonghi is value for money.

$300 if a fair buy. But you might have been better offer getting the small penfolds fridge that was offered by Treasury in 2015, for only a little more. The same offer may come up again in 2016.

Thanks GPH and Dr. Ralph for your comments.

I was looking at waiting for the Treasury offer - but unless I'm mistaken - the offer usually begins in June, and can take several weeks to deliver. So, rather than wait for the unknown, the De'Longhi seemed like an offer worth taking.

I guess if it all goes pear shaped then it has hardly broken the bank ...

Good decision I think. You could always get the treasury offer in 6 months time and sell your delonghi.

The smaller TWE/Vintec fridge is a back venting 36 bottle model IIRC. The one you've been offered seems a little more spacious plus can be fitted under-bench. Depending on your needs it might be a better option anyway.

Great point, AC. However, at this time it won't be under-bench. Noone knows what the future might hold, however.

I'm sold. I'll go round to pick up the De'Longhi tomorrow. And I'm now convinced it'll be at least a servicable purchase.

Thanks for the input. Now to pick out some more wine ... :)

Fridge settled and stocked. I didn't realise how much wine I had. I guess it only takes a couple of cases and the space is gone. So - the mid-year Vintec is likely to be on the cards! :)

I guess it's a nice problem to have...

And I also now see what all the fuss is about regarding bottle shape.
