Any one been to velocityrewards.com ?

I accidentally typed in www.velocityrewards.com (no .au on the end), went off to keep writing an email or two, and then came back to the browser and noticed that the QF FF page had come up . Typed it again (deliberately this time) and noticed a disgruntled domain owner with redirection to QF FF! Amusing.

If I was pushed to make an uneducated guess, I would say that some bloodsucking domain creep had registered the name in the hope of extorting money from Virgin, and was summarily told to shove it up his clapper.

Of course the real story could be completely the other way around, but as the mental genius redirects the browser to Qantas it is impossible to say.

Ok - with a bit of effort I could possibly investigate this further but who could be coughd.

I had a browse through the documents of when he put in a complaint to the World Intellectual Property Organisation Arbitration it seems that he failed to prove that he had intentions of opening up his product world wide to include Australia, and it seems that when Virgin Blue's marketing company approached him to purchase the domain name, the discussions broke down. I believe that he was asking for an unreasonable amount of money to sell the domain name.

Virgin Blue found a way to get round it and they did. This guy now has a huge grudge. All I can say is that tough luck that he didn't win in the arbitration. He now needs to suck it up, and move on.
