Any news on the LAX International Lounge upgrade?

Has anyone been to the Business Lounge recently in LAX? I'm flying a Qantas flight back from LAX late April to Melbourne and just have regular Club Access.

I can't seem to get a clear answer from Qantas on the progress.

Are you referring to the progress of the expansion in size of the business lounge from 400 to 600 PAX?

(Since you state "regular club access" I presume this is not about the 200 seat First Lounge which opened in December.)

Yes, I'm referring to the size upgrade in the business lounge, not the First Lounge. I didn't want to arrive and find its full to capacity as its an evening flight.

This indicated 'early 2015': QANTAS, CATHAY PACIFIC AND BRITISH AIRWAYS OPEN NEW LA BUSINESS LOUNGE

ISTR coming across a reference to this being indeed the case and the expanded Business lounge was available from early January, but I have not been able to locate a specific reference.

Tried the QF/CX/BA J lounge at LAX last week (6-10pm) and I was underwhelmed. That's not to say it was poor because that would be overly harsh (especially because I found the staff very pleasant) but, given it's a new lounge, the designers have missed the mark terribly. Decor looks like it's been pinched from 1995 - the long table-height desks (primarily for laptop users) were obviously functional and the only "plus" but most of the furniture looked so bland and "pedestrian" that I doubt it would even sell at a secondhand auction. The beige tub chairs with too-low circular tables that you couldn't fit hardly anything on, were woeful.

Considering it was evening meal time and they get plenty of people through, surely they could do better than just one main dish of beef casserole (I actually enjoyed it but my wife doesn't eat red meat much so she wasn't impressed that the alternatives for her were essentially dry biscuits, cheese and fruit for dinner). If you're serving a hundred (sometimes many more) people it can't be hard to have a chicken or fish option can it?

And is it too much to ask that a J lounge have bottled or canned soft drinks at the bar instead of that machine made dishwater they pretend is Coke, when serving mixed drinks?

Used it last month, was good. Staff friendly and helpful, bathrooms and showers nice.

Looks like it's from the 1970s glory days of Pan Am, all thoes browns and tans, but I like it. They have some very comfortable faux Eames recliners (they are probably from some high end design studio and more expensive than Eames) along the corridor area near the showers which I enjoyed catching a few winks.

The bar area was pleasent enough and lots of room, walking from my faux eames to the bar was a reasonable walk.

The food was good, selection acceptable.

I enjoyed my 3 hours there.

She already made me broke shopping in San Francisco and Las Vegas. So she had no choice but to eat the food.

When I was there they had a stir fry and rice, and lasagne, as well as the hot dog and taco stations...
