I am travelling to Athens on QF8435 & QF8105 (Emirates) via Brisbane on 24th May 2016 and returning Madrid to Cairns on 7th June 2016 QF8144 & QF2 (8th).

Unfortunately I am in economy and the system says there are no points upgrades available (will check periodically to see if that changes), so no business means no lounge access.

I can cope with all the other layovers of about 2 hours, but there is a 5 hour layover in Dubai heading to Athens. I thought about getting my hands on a complimentary lounge pass but they aren't valid for associated lounges which is what Dubai is.

I think the AA 30 day lounge pass won't be applicable either.

I will add my flights to the Guesting pages but they are quite hit and miss and there are 2 of us travelling.

Short of becoming a QC member, is there anything else I can do or does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks.

Unfortunately if travelling on Emirates plane then QFF points upgrades aren't possible.
Cant help with the club - we've always had QP membership. We used to pay for it but just recently one of us achieved LTG.

[Ok. You cant even request it? Did you buy a super discount fare?/QUOTE]

Sale fare under the Wanderlust sale. Having said that the sale has finished on 11th Feb, but the price is still the same (it still says sale fare type though). I just checked my booking. Outbound Q class. Inbound O class. Both non-eligible classes.

However, from the Qantas Website: " Classic Upgrade Rewards from selected discount Economy classes which are not normally eligible (for example N, Q and O class) may be offered on a selected basis for limited periods at the discretion of Qantas."

They have previously sent out offers to N,O,Q classes but it all depends on loads and I haven't seen one on a while
