Another triple points offer, but given that I still haven't been able to take the bookings I made months ago, I'm not booking any further flights let alone holidays until the vaccination rollout catastrophe ends are there is a little more certainty.

Our favourite Aussie destinations are filling fast, so make sure you get that holiday you've been dreaming of all year.

To get you in the festive spirit, we've wrapped up the perfect present, triple Qantas Points across eligible flights, hotels, Holiday Packages and Avis car hire for travel until 30 June 2022.*

And when plans change unexpectedly, we've got your back. You can change your flight, fee-free, as many times as you want until February 2022, a fare difference may apply.Ω

How to earn triple Qantas Points:
1 .
Register by 11:59 pm (AEST) 27 July 2021.
2 .
Make an eligible flight, hotel, Holiday Package or Avis car hire booking between 12:01am (AEST) 22 July 2021 and 11:59pm (AEST) 27 July 2021 for travel between 28 July 2021 and 30 June 2022.*
3 .
Include your Qantas Frequent Flyer number in your booking.

If only it were Triple Status Credits... But does it mean there will be a big sale after the Triple Points offer ends on 27 July?

Indeed. Points just don't cut it right now.
If I'm going to invest $ into QF by purchasing tickets, they better give me triple credits ... I'd be happy to book flights and even if unable to fly, I will cancel and take credit with the triple credits

:D

However, given my recent Gold with VA, I'd be happy if VA gives out DSC - can do that status run to Platinum ...

The standard condition that it “cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer” … I assume this means I can’t double dip with Triple Points from this promo and double status credits from my Travel Pass offer?

I know, I’m a greedy muppet. :p

honestly QF.. who are they kidding? no thank you.
I guess the great general public MAY be enticed by TP but reality is right now, with such a short booking window the biggest problem QF has is there is almost zero certainty about borders and all. I know it's for travel for a year but honestly... QF wants revenue I get it, but I wonder how many fish they will bait with this one, specially with three states currently in lockdown for the duration of this promo I doubt people are thinking about booking trips (well I am sure they, like me, are WANTING to... but actually doing it? many have already been burnt with making bookings, refunds being difficult, and all the rest.. I think many will be shy to book right now.

This quote from the press release is also unfortunate (my bolding):

This is one of our biggest-ever offers and we hope it will inspire travellers to start planning their next holiday to reconnect with loved ones around Australia and across the Tasman.

I won't be taking advantage of this either. I've just had to cancel a heap of bookings and am still waiting for refunds for those, and other bookings that I already cancelled months ago. I don't see any need to give any more money to QF right now.

Hotel bookings will be a nice earner once borders reopen, though QF hotels cancellation policy is not as generous as some of the big players so I wouldn’t book anything until last minute.

Actually this is good timing for me as I am about to book one way PER-BME for late October. However I was planning to change an existing PNR from HBA-PER as that trip has been cancelled. I need to re-read the fine print. It is not worth 4,200 points to make a new booking and keep a credit note. I was hoping QF might alter the HBA flight sufficiently that I can cancel for a refund!)

I wouldn’t go out of my way to book anything though.

At least you are getting some promos. Here in the eastern isles we get nothing, and only have JQ to fly if crediting to QFF.

I suddenly needed to book return PER-SYD for the end of September and thought hard and long about whether to pay and earn triple points (2,900 each way x3 is pretty nice) or book classic reward seats. So much easier to cancel and have points returned than have a flight credit if there are problem. Decisions!

Honestly, I would just redeem points for the option to cancel and get a full refund if needed.
