Another overhead solver

I would have to be on hands and knees in the isle in order to retrieve my hand luggage

Second I saw that I thought, Someone is going to drop their water bottle/kids toy/kids sippy cup/kids foot/kids body/book/shoe/headphone/you get the hint, its going to roll into that space under the bottom of the shelf and block it from being closed.

Pretty neat if you have a box of tissues to stow, not sure it's useful for the offending items that cause the overhead scrum.....oversized trolley and shopping bags. The overhead bins aren't usually teeming with iPads and laptops without carry cases.

At the end of the day the real overhead solver is this.....properly police carry-on luggage to prevent people from bringing chandeliers, piles of books, wide screen TV's and trolley bags filled with house bricks onboard. Yes I've seen all of those. Or even better, remove the overhead bins altogether. Sorry sir, you'll either have to check that bag or cancel your ticket. There is only underseat stowage on this aircraft.

The problem isn't with aircraft it's with people, who refuse to follow the rules believing that they are the sole exception in all the universe to them. There isn't an overhead compartment that can compensate for human stupidity and selfishness.

The design, it added, “fully utilises the space between the cabin floor and the cargo ceiling to give the passengers their own personal luggage space.”

I did wonder about this... but echo many posters here in saying what happens when you drop something into the compartment below the box (I guess the idea would be just to eliminate the box). I think in economy it would be hard to even reach into the compartment to grab something with the seat in front so close! Would certainly give me easy floor stowage and legroom though, right now it's one or the other.

I have added the image to the first post.

If I remember correctly, some of the Soviet era passenger planes also had this concept (instead of overhead bins).
