Another Notebook Question Thread....

As I am typing this post my X61 is sitting on my lap and its not hot at all, its been there for 3 hours running on battery with wireless (still at 50%), I do notice it gets a little hot when charging the battery using the 70W adaptor, the 90W does not have the same problem.

Its a good notebok, probably better than the Toshi R200 that some low life took form the QP in Melbourne earlier in the year that reuslted in me buying this one!

eck, that is my greatest fear at QPs ... someone nicking my laptop while i grab a cuppa and a bite to eat. I typically could not be bothered putting away my laptop while I am charging.

Vista Business... ummmmmmm, anyways... XP Pro or Vista Ultimate are the only miscrosoft flavours I will touch, if only PC's came with Leopard... lol
Unfortunately Vista is largely based on NT and in my opinion should be left totally alone. Way too much security for its own good and the last stable version of NT was 3.5. Not looking forward to Windows 7 either.

Good price btw, and using the Lenovo laptops we have at work as an example, you shouldnt have any issues with them... well that is excluding what issues windows provides you.
I also have an R60e with XP Pro for over 2 years now and no issues at all.

It has been reported that Windows 7 even in beta will run on lower power chips like atom and that windows XP device divers will work in some cases.
So it may be that Windows 7 is a lighter product, and it needs to be for MS to keep market share in the netbook space.

(Not an authority because i could not be bothered installaing any beta in the last 2 years except fedora 10, just reading the odd artical)
