I would like advise on the time frame in L.A. airport. We have flights from New York to L.A.l eaving N.Y. 1910 arrive L.A. 2210 Leaving L.A. 2320 for Bris. i am concerned this isn't enough time to get from domestic to international and go through security. I contacted Qantas, they assure me we will be fine as luggage will be onbooked. Could anyone who has done this recently advise please?,

Last year my NYC-LAX flight arrived at the same terminal that my LAX-SYD flight was taking off from.

In this case there was no need to go through security again as I was already in the correct terminal. Assuming you arrive/depart from the same terminal and that your LAX bound flight is on time, I don't think you will have an issue.

Don't worry - you'll be fine. Qantas wouldn't ticket something they didn't think you could make!

Presuming you're on a QF108/QF176 LAX connection you should be fine.

If QF108 is not "too" late they will hold QF176.

Failing that they will endeavor to route you via SYD, possibly on QF108 itself ...

IME, QF are quite adept at managing circumstances where there are significant delays in incoming flights from other US centres to LAX.

They have the luxury of QF94 (to MEL), QF176 (to BNE), QF108 & QF12 (both to SYD) all leaving in close temporal proximity. On a couple of occasions when I was ticketed on QF176 and my incoming flight has gone tech, I have been diverted on to QF108 which has been held at LAX, and a connecting SYD-BNE domestic flight was arranged. I was very grateful indeed.

On one of these occasions, there were at least a dozen passengers who missed the earlier flights, and all got seats on QF108. I suspect that some QF108 passengers were diverted on to the earlier flights. "Safety in numbers" may have been a major factor in QF's decision.
