One theory is for the matched people it could be on the lead up to your QF membership year end(Dj logged this When status matching remember).

The obvious benefit is that virgin will get more bookings, but the other benefit is that QF will miss on the ticket sales they otherwise could have counted on. If you can't make money, having your competitor lose some is almost as good.

Your conspiracy/theory works for me. Just requalified for DJ Plat - although some purists might suggest that I have "qualified", as I was status matched - and my new QF year starts on 1 May. Although, I would fly DJ until 30 April in any event. Then back to QF until I requalify for WP (est: June). The joys of being in charge of my own travel budget!

Status matched Gold currently sitting on 300 who got the offer. I did all my VA flying Sept through Dec then stopped completely, returning to Q (because my status year re-commenced). Hoping to make Gold with both I think, it will be close.

Got my offer on Tuesday. Very nice. I was status matched but qualified again for Platinum in January.

Pity it doesn't apply to Etihad as I am about to book another J return to LHR and am trying to decide who to go with!!

gave in today and rebooked a business class flight I booked months ago to get double credits. Wasn't going to but i was flying it purely for status anyway so cant not do it !

Amex Platinum is still offering 25% off J flights with Virgin domestically, so keep that in mind if you want to fly and earn some SC's

I'm booking a few flights over Easter and the 25% saving is great

Just checked Lindsay, its actually $488 each way to CNS, but still better value than flying to Mackay !

Though if you have a Plat card it is $366 each way.

Do the Amex seats need to be the same person purchasing as the pax? Or can an Amex charge card holder buy me a seat for that price?

Not all, from what I can tell only got sent to gold and Plats, no Silver scrubs like me seem to of gotten it! Other than that, must of beena bit of a lottery system maybe.

I'm a silver (status match) and signed up to this forum after a bit of lurking and much reading to post this.

I booked a return trip to the US (in premium economy one way to boost SCs) and booked it about a week before I got this email. Pretty peeved cause after this promotion came out the price was identical (in fact it may have dropped ~$50?). I emailed in to customer service and they stated in no uncertain terms that I was s**t out of luck and would not be receiving the promotion credits.

Not that I can be that annoyed, after all, their T&Cs state fairly clearly I'm ineligible, I just wish I hadn't jumped on buying the fare as soon as the sale came out, and held off for a week!!!

If anyone knows if there are any real appeal processes here then I wouldn't say no to them, as it stands I'll re-qualify for silver no problems, but if I got in under this promotion I would have hit gold which would have been so much sweeter.

C'est la vie...

I'll obtain 240 SC's this weekend, then another 240SC's May

I am getting 100SC's for transferring Velocity points from Amex.. Although 3 business days later they have not appeared...

580SC's by the end of May, plus a few other flights here and there so I'll be at about 800 by the end of June

I had a look at the bottom of my monthly statement, it mentions the promo ... and in the fine print below it says:
"^You have been specially selected for this offer and it is non-transferable."

I also received the targeted email though.. are you sure you didn't miss the email or perhaps it's hiding in your spam folder?

Certainly seems a random selection. Initially it was all platinums, now we have golds and silvers getting it. Seems the odd ones out are those that didn't get the offer ( myself included). Funny though, if we didn't have this forum, we would be totally unaware of what we are missing out on, I'm not bothered in all honesty, as I'm chasing qf sc ATM, but thought I would have been targeted as I had as tack of flights up until Christmas, then nothing booked with virgin until may / June . Just proves, we have no idea how they target these things, and more than likely never will.
