One of the further routes.
With 6 hours time difference, and 13 hours flight time, there would have needed to be spares (crew) on board, even if its not a regular pax flight.
Probably freight.

Or going to EU for maintenance.
Ferried Los Angeles - Dresden for planned maintenance as QF6013 - August 19, 2021
Departed Dresden (10:21 CET) on the fery flight to Australia as QF6023 - November 08, 2021
It arrived at Sydney (Kingsford Smith) (15:11 AEDT) on completion of the ferry flight - November 09, 2021
Flight time: 18 hours 50 minutes covering 16,106 km
Cabin refurbishment to be undertaken at Sydney prior to return to service
Route may be incorrect

6 hours time difference...so what?

It would just be a normal long haul crew, so probably Captain, FO, 2 SOs. That may be changed at the moment with training/requalifying happening.

I've done lots of maintenance ferries over the years, and they have all been completely empty. They'd be carrying anything that was known to be needed, and happened to be in Oz, but any parts would more than likely come down from Europe.

Why would they not carry some freight, if any was available (which it usually is these days) ? Too much trouble to arrange on the paperwork side?

No ground handlers to take off freight and not freight contracts presumably at AUH.

Believe it's going for cabin refurb in AUH.
Despite spending a few months in DRS, then more time on the ground in SYD, it seems neither did the refurb work.

My last trip pre-COVID was MEL-SIN on the A380 with VH-OQE and VH-OQF - sad to see them go but strange as it sounds relieved that I just made it on them before they were retired.

Now the only QF Superjumbo I haven't been on is VH-OQJ.
