Hi, I need more status points. I am thinking of LAN flight AKL-SYD return, with overnight in Sydney which will leave me 70 points short.
Any suggestions? And how many flights will QF let you go on in one day?
Thanks

You could do SYD-CBR return in business - it's about $716 and will get you 80 SCs. You should be able to fit that in while you're in SYD.

I don't know what the maximum number of QF flights in a day is - but I've done 4. It was on a weekend where I decided for something fun and different I'll have breakfast in Canberra, morning tea in Melbourne, lunch in Adelaide, afternoon tea in Sydney and then dinner in Canberra - as a JASA for 48,000 points.

I even had the same crew on two of the flights :)

Was that all in the J lounge :p

It’d be very tight to get anywhere else :o

And on the plane. I was quite full by the end of the day, I can assure you :)

I did have 2 hours in ADL, so could have gone into the city briefly but I was quite content relaxing in the lounge(s) with my trusty Kindle in one hand and a drink in the other :D

This was back in June as my push to get from SG to WP for an international trip in July. Here's the Itinerary.

The end to a fun day was when I was stepping off the aircraft after the last flight and the CSM said "Is that all for today Mr Ewing?" :D

Not strictly 1 day, but have done 5 QF flights in 24 hours before - CBR-SYD-ADL-PER-SYD-CBR earlier this year when the Brumbies played the Force over in Perth. Flew over via ADL for a meeting (in the Qantas Club), landed in Perth, watched the game, on the red-eye back to SYD and then first connection back to Canberra.

(That wasn't a bad SC run in itself - 300SCs in 24 hours of domestic travel, all (with the exception of the first CBR-SYD flight) tacked onto the back of an AONE4 so the total cost of the extra flights was around $300.).

I don't believe there is any limit to the number of flights you can take other than that imposed by flying and connection times.

Thanks. I never think of canberra as a place to go for the day. What a great way to spend the day, reading with food and drinks supplied and no phones, or in our ongoing house renovations, no builders.
I went on the QF multi-city booking site and looked at AKL-SYD-BNE-CNS-BNE in one day and got this error
International Multi-City

  • Up to 2 segments can be requested for the same date. Please modify your last selection and resubmit your request. (# 66105)

So according to QF multicty I can only do 2. Any ideas how to overcome this?

Do you need to go to AKL? If not then have a look at a CBR-SYD-HBA return JASA for 16000 points each way and 200 SCs in total. Will leave you 30 SCs short, which could be a J connection to CBR.

Alternatively look at the BNE -NAN run, BNE_MEL_SYD_NAN is 180SC, if you then return from NAN to SYD with a stopover in SYD before continuing the SYD-MEL-BNE Legs in the new status year, so 260SC then 100 SC for the new SC year.

I am based in AKL, so need to start there. All made a bit more difficult with QF pulling out of domestic and JQ not offering *class yet.
I just went to QF site again and looked up multi-city for NAN and again got error message that I cant book more than 2 segments for the same date? Where am I going wrong?
Is this a QF booking or done throught Air Pacific for J?

My apologies, I thought you were based in SYD for some reason. To book the NAN special ex BNE you need to use the multicity and book BNE-MEL then MEL-NAN, selecting via SYD options. Ex AKL it may well just make sense to do a LAN run then a sidetrip to Canberra in J, then if you have points use them for a JASA home:

The first page will give you that error, just put trailing segments after the first two into the next day(s) (no more than 2/day) and then when you go to select flights, you shift the dates back to your original date. Provided you meet the minimum connection times, you shouldbe able to book more than two flights into one day.
