Has anyone in the Eastern States changed their mailing address to Perth in order to get a free flight from Perth, and then paid to change the order of the flights? i'm thinking of doing this if I get the card approved.

I was living in Perth when I first got the card, then moved to Sydney last year. Changed my billing address according to where I was living, and while living in Sydney had no problem booking PER-SYD-PER; because I was going back to Perth a couple of times I used the PER-SYD segment as the return flight of one trip and the SYD-PER as the outward flight on the next trip. No idea if you can change the times of the flights after booking so that your return flight (SYD-PER) ends up leaving before your outward flight (PER-SYD) departs.

Well, it seems that getting the free 17,500 points for the Amex Premium 4 months earlier is no impediment to the "40,000 points plus a free flight for $395" offer - Amex approved me. I was a little surprised as I thought you had to have a card for six months before they'd change it.

Is anyone visiting PER soon?
  • A little birdie told me there was an offer of a waived $395 Amex Ultimate fee plus seven bottles of Vasse Felix red.
  • It might have been a one-off, one day offer.
  • The person at the QF gates at SYD knew nothing. I showed him what the birdie told me (an e-mail) and he said he'd enquire about the fee-waived offer.
  • That 'free' offer was offered and accepted by the birdie last Thursday night.
  • Can someone volunteer to ask the PER Amex people?
No sign of Amex perople in MEL, only Citibank stands at Gate 1 and near the QP..

Hi BiziBB,

I made various phone calls to try & see if I could find out about this offer, but drew a blank. They even put me onto the marketing company that sets up many of these stands & they couldn't tell me anything about it. They did say they might be able to do something if I had the promotion code for this offer - do you know if the email had a promotion code?

Thanks,

Gary.

I had applied for the Ultimate 40k points offer at the URL listed in the first post here, before activating the card I decided to just double check with them if the points would be credited after the 5k spend as I am paying the rather high yearly fee......

Another looking in to it, they were able to confirm my card was approved by the cut off date but nothing has been recorded saying that I would be getting anywhere near the bonus points promised in the promotion after the 5k spend in June...

It has now been escalated and has to be investigated by their marketing team, so I am going to hold of activating mine until they get back to me!

I thought I'd better check the same with the card that I just received yesterday. Fortunately, I am on the right track: 5000 for first spend, 2500 for first QANTAS spend and 32500 points for $5000 total spend by 30th June. Phew.

Great :D

I'm sure they will sort mine out in time but it is annoying when you apply with their offer links and details go missing from their systems

Contact Amex if you haven't received the 32,500 points, I had to fax a copy of the link from the first page of this thread. They reckon it's going to take 10 business days for the points to be credited. Typical
