Annual NZ Dinner: WLG 7 March 2026

It looks like I'm Platinum!
Flights now booked, and I'm tentatively booked to stay at the Sofitel. I've not been to WLG before, so I've got no idea where I'm going.
Quest 256 Lambton is also quite good and on the main shopping drag on Lambton Quay. You can catch a bus from the airport to a few steps from their entrance. (NB make sure you get the right Quest as there are several).

Like this year (2025) I will, at this stage, plan to be there in 2026. However, given Qantas cannot be relied on to honour my booking (bundle of rights) when I plan to travel, I will eventually book everything with my fingers crossed that they will not be cancelled 7 months after making the flight booking. I am still arguing with them about the non-refundable cost of unused accommodation resulting from the cancellation of my flight this year.
Platinum for me, but not +1 who will be otherwise engaged that weekend.

Accommodation to be determined.

I am looking at some options. One of them, Noble Rot, is my preferred choice. They have a number of smaller areas that would suit us. Not that we need exclusive use, bit it does make things a bit nicer.

For ten or more diners, they require us to have a set menu. As we are already at 9 and likely to be quite a few more I am throwing it up for consideration.

Their current menu is here, and they are able to accomodate dietary requirements. It would be option 1, for $99.

Please let me know what you think. I will of course be giving more weight to those who are Platinum, as they have already committed.

Looks good.
I didn’t give Mr Katie proper instructions and he started to compare Menu A and B.

Oh, I have booked us at the Doubletree for now. Flights to be sorted.
