As promised I am writing my first trip review. It was for my recent trip to Iraq. I don't think any other AFF's will get the chance.

I flew in on a series of cargo flights. Some were nice and others had cargo on my lap or I was sitting on cargo. This one was the best. It was great with no security line checks or baggage limits.

The mood lighting on board made for a nice boarding

I was afforded plenty of leg room

The cabin had plenty of room for some pick up volley ball or taking a nap.

The accommodations were not also that bad, I has a 2 person twin room with air conditioner and heater with a concrete blast wall view.

The dining was nothing fancy, but really did help keep the calories down.

Due to post image limit post 2 will have the continuation.

The car hire was nice, I had a nice 4 door fully armored with defensive and offensive capabilities.

Smooth ride with plenty of room

It was great to see the country side and some of the locals.

Overall it was not a bad trip, I would not recommend going at the current time but anything but dinar is quite strong right now.

These are the only photos I have handy. I will look for some more on my other media devices.

Agree, this is the most unusual TR of the year; highly creative and not sure that many AFFers here would actually want to take the trip :)

Thanks Justinn, it was fantastic.

Not on my bucket list, but fascinating none the less. Thanks for sharing

I found some more photos

Some wild dogs roaming around, mostly likely were pets before but due to the situation were let go.

The next two are a dust storm rolling in and a dust storm in action

I think that the most crazy thing about the experience is that I would frequently crave Mcdonalds. At home I very seldom go, but when I would be able to get a days old cheeseburger from Kuwait it would taste like a steak at a fine dining restaurant.

I'm with Drron, a very original trip report, and glad it went smoothly.

On a completely different level but somewhat similar I also have this weird craving for Maccas when I'm stuck in odd locations. I hardly ever eat it when at home or in a major city but as soon as I head somewhere remote my brain can't stop thinking about a Big Mac.

Now that's a tour!

Safe travels. Best of the season to you and your team mates.

Fascinating! Just a little curious as to why a guy in the US military is on AFF?

Since 2009 I have been planning the Ultimate trip to Australia. I wanted to learn as much as possible before I went and found lots of great knowledge here. I finally will have my dream with a 23 day trip next month.

Are you going to fill us in on the plans? I'm sure there would be some AFF hospitality and tips along the way :).
