Anaheim: Hilton, Embassy or Doubletree?

We are looking at spending 4 nights in Anaheim in Oct. Pondering a Hilton property due to my Diamond status, if it gives us benefits. If not, might go for the Crowne Plaza for the bunk beds!

We've stayed at Embassy Suites in Waikiki and Hiltons in Aus/US/NZ. Have never stayed in a Doubletree, but I have heard about the cookies.

Has anyone stayed at one of these properties? Any pros or cons? Worth the Hilton as a Diamond?

I recently stayed 2x stays at the Hilton Anaheim and 1x at the Doubletree Anaheim.

I thought the Hilton Anaheim was great, with a little food court, Starbucks, 2 (gift) shops, restaurant and bar located on the ground floor. I was given the top floor both stays as a Gold but no Disney-view rooms. Late check-out also possible. The rooms were nice, similar to LAX Hilton. Recently refurbished.

The Doubletree wasn't very nice. I checked in a little early, and was given a 4th floor room (out of 7) and it was a weird shape/layout which made me feel like I was in a shoebox. The actual room wasn't as nice (a little older), the view was much worse and the actual hotel didn't have much in the way of F&B.

The Hilton Anaheim also looked like it had a better pool for the kids. The Hilton is closer to Disneyland by around a block.

I didn't try the Embassy due to its location from Disneyland, but after staying at the Doubletree, I wish I stayed there instead.

+1 for the Hilton Anaheim. Fairly good location, not far to walk. Good day spa also!

If you are after convenience and a short walk to the Disney theme parks we stayed at both the Howard Johnson Anaheim Hotel and Water Playground, and the Carousel Inn & Suites both of which are located on South Harbor Boulevard, Anaheim (the I5 end of South Harbor). Of the two, the Howard Johnson had better rooms etc, but the benefit of staying that close to the entrance of the them parks is we used to walk back to the hotel for a swim after lunch and return to the park for a few more hours late afternoon. The Howard Johnson get good reviews.

I've stayed at the Carrousel Inn and Dessert Inn a few times. The issue I have with these hotels is the noise from other families. Kids screaming and running down the hallways all morning if you want to sleep in. The buildings aren't designed to keep light and noise out. Super close to Disneyland though.

If you want the full Disney experience we did the hotel in the park (Grand Californian) and we had a view of our son doing the water ride over and over again from our balcony. Sure it's more money and it's not giving points for loyalty but it was worth it for 2 nights or a bit more.

This is our third family trip to Disneyland. First time we stayed at the Grand Californian - Little Miss then 3.5 was desperately upset she couldn't sleep on the top bunk. (Bunk beds were awesome tho) We hated the long walk from the lifts to our room, but otherwise enjoyed our splurge.
Lsat year we had a one day visit, and stayed at Paradise Pier the night before after flying in from HNL. I think I got food poisoning from the room service meal, though it could have been from something else.

In 96 Mr Katie & I went for the first time, and we stayed at a Residence Inn.

I'd love to do Grand Californian again, but the cost is coming out at close to double most of the other options. We might want to spend the $$ on something else (Bibbidii Bobbidi Boutique?? )

Our 2 kids always loved the happy hour drinks at Embassy Suites so when we travelled with them when they were little it was always their choice. You don't have break your bank to enjoy California. I always liked Ayres as well but it is a drive to the attractions as they are all located near the freeways.
Try using your RAC card with the code for AAA on the back. Mine is 397 for RACWA.

Another +1 for the Anaheim Hilton. We stayed there for 5 days last month. Walking distance to Disneyland. Great if you have kids and want to walk back in the afternoon for a nap. I think the hotel may have lots of business guests if there is a convention next door.
