ANA partnership with Virgin Australia

Just activated the offer as I have a J flight SYD-HND-SYD in mid September. Originally put in my Krisflyer number when I booked (already had ~90K points before starting to accrue Velocity points via CC churning) and can't change via the ANA website. Will have to remember to do it at check in instead.

My J fare is P class which normally only earns 70% (both Krisflyer and Velocity) so this is a nice little bump.

I have a feeling it's going to be a no but has anyone had any luck getting VA to check their luggage through to a NH flight which is booked separately?

VA have a firm policy to not through check luggage on seperate tickets. That being said many airports in Asia have the ability to fetch and retag luggage for you when you use the transfer desk. I'm guessing you're flying CNS-HND and then onward to another international flight, if so it wouldn't hurt to ask at the transfer desk.

Thank you for the quick reply!

Unfortunately I’m transiting in SYD (MEL - SYD - HND) and did put quite a sizeable gap between the flights, although they are on the same day. I suppose I’ll just have to collect my bags, store them somewhere and see SYD for a few hours…

Storing bags at the airport will be a pain in the bum.
Reason, you MEL - SYD flight will arr into T2, if you store your bags there (not sure if there are still lockers at T2 these days tho), then you have to go back to T2 and pick bags up, and then get the outside bus to T1.
OR on arr bring your bags to T1, store them there, go to city by train ($$$$ with the gate fee), and then back to T1 for the night dep).
Guess you could sit at T1s coffee spot, and wait for the night flight, if its the 21.45 flight out to HND.
If its the 12.xx flight out, then not so bad, but if you on that one, hopefully your flight from MEL - SYD is the first one at 6am.

Thanks for the reply. I get into SYD at 2:30 pm and the HND flight is the 8:55 pm one. So yeah I’ll probably see if I can store bags at T1 and then head to the city.
