Can you elaborate what you mean here? How does it work once you reach the spend threshold - are the points not instantly transferred to Velocity?

Points are only transferred monthly, bonus points or not.

No unfortunately points are only transferred once a month. I activated my card on 13/06, the first points were transferred on 05/07 and arrived on that day on my velocity account.

The referral has changed this time. Now the offer stays the same (100,000 points) but the guy who refers will receive 30,000 points... make it much harder for referring as it's no longer win-win even though Amex still throw 30,000 points in total (in the last offer the applicant received 10,000 points and the referrer got 20,000 points). I guess the 30,000 points is attractive enough that some guys will try very hard to spread the words about the offer for Amex, but likely people will go to the official Amex webiste for the actual application.

When I clicked through, I could only see the referral link from The High Life blog. Is there another referral link you are talking about?

No I just refered to the general referral policy for Amex Velocity this time, no referral link.

Just out of interest, I am moving to Australia on the 29th of July (permanently), starting a new job on the 31st of July. I am quite keen to sign up for this card, with the 100k points a great incentive based on my reading and research.

I have a contract that states what my annual salary will be and that I am a permanent employee, will that be enough to register for this card or do American Express prefer to see a couple of actual pay slips at first?

If they do, how often are there similar promotions for 100k points on sign up?

Do the Virgin lounge passes come as a printed hard copy, that is, can I pass them on or linked to the card?

I'm currently WP and have 2 passes attached to my VFF account from Amex - if I was travelling in a group of 6 on VA dom, would they let me use my WP access plus the 2 passes to get everyone in?

Would you not be one short? i.e As Platinum, that get's yourself and two guests in. Then 2 passes gets you to 5, you are then one short of 6. Would then depend upon how generous they were at the counter.

About half way down the page under 'Member's Guests' it says: Velocity Platinum members may be accompanied by up to three guests at no charge.

I assumed that would be myself + 3

Yes any level of Govt. Even swimming lessons at Council pool.

Totally fine as long as they meet the other criteria - ie haven't been a primary account holder of another AMEX for 18 months.
