AMEX rejection

The difference is that I didn't use a referral like last time.
@MelbFlyer - if you take the plunge, it'd be good to know if you use or didn't use a referral. It'd be bizarre if this is a factor, defining or otherwise, in Amex's seemingly arbitrary approval/rejection process.

I applied on a bit of a whim the other day and was accepted in 20 seconds with no documents required to be supplied other than passport scan (or possibly driving licence)

Clicked on a referral link from Flight Hacks

Wonder if they're trying to lock new members in now that they're on the level playing field with bank issued cards, and possibly also to head off those that might apply for the upcoming CBA charge card.

Was that for the plat or ultimate? Would be curious if churners start getting let through for the ultimate, recent success post seem to all be plat?
My friend was for the Ultimate, after being denied previously a few times, presumably for churning.

Data point:

Rejected for amex plat charge in 5 business days via a letter in the mail.

Income ~$100k
No majored debts of any kind

Have churned 6 cards this year and I'm assuming that's what did it oops . Also thinking that maybe recently closed cards aren't yet reflected as such on my credit file.

Shame as I was hoping to settle on the plat as a keeper as I travel a fair bit and wanted to get in before the bonus points offers expires

Anyone know how long I should wait before I reapply?
