I received a survey a little while ago from AMEX and I was thinking about it today because it offers some insights into what AMEX may be thinking about doing with the platinum. Essentially they survey asked me to gauge attractiveness of various options for the platinum card.
This is all going from memory, but essentially the insurances, accor+, hotel loyalyties, partner transfers and statement credits remained the same.
The variable options were:
Points: 1-2.2.5 per $
Fees: $950-$1,850
Dining Credit: $100-200 and either aus only or abroad only or both
Travel Credit: $350-$550 to $300 per six months and varied whether on specific pre-paid hotel booking or just travel in general
Lounges: 8, 16, or unlimited access to lounges
Subscriptions: $100 per year on things like Amazon, Netflix, etc
Store credits: $50 per quarter at the Iconic or Lululemon
Other: $660 per year on something like a gym or spa for classes of some kind
Not all offerings had all options, this was just the total pool of what might be on any of the different offering presented.
These were then combined into different offerings and I was asked whether that combination would be attractive or not to me.
This was repeated about 20 times in all different combinations to assume drill down into what I actually thought was important for me.
Again all going off memory as I can't see my answers anymore, but let me know if anything is incorrect and I'll update.
