To my extended family at our Australian Frequent Flyer Community, I have the following referral for the American Express® Platinum Card:

You will receive 300,000 Membership Rewards points (usually 200,000, currently 250,000) and you will get $500 Credit if you apply for the American Express® Platinum Card, are approved and spend $5,000 in the first 3 months of Card membership. Note you cannot currently hold or have held one of the American Express cards in the last 18 months. If you consider yourself a friend of our community and this deal is for you, please apply via the following link:

What do I love about this card?
- One of the highest earn rates - 2.25 membership points per $1 spent, which can be converted to a large number of frequent flyer programs at an earn rate of 1.125 points per $1
- Can hold the points in your Amex account indefinitely and only transfer to your airline when needed (includes Qantas, Virgin, Singapore)
- $500 cash back to your Card on application and you meet the minimum spend - use this to offset the high card fee ($1,450).
- $450 Travel Credit each year you hold the card
- One free night of accommodation and 50% off dining through your free Accor Plus Membership ($399 usually)
- Hotel Status with Marriott Bonvoy (Gold Elite), Hilton Honors (Gold - aka free breakfast)
- Access to over 1000 internationally lounges globally
- Access to Virgin Australia lounges
- Amex Bonus Offers - Some absolutely awesome cashback offers are provided for this card. Unclear on what basis they are offered (spend patterns etc), but when offered certainly very good. Best recent example (last 12 months) I can give is "spend $300 at supermarkets, get $300 back"
- Amex Shop Small promotion - traditionally cash back if you shop with small vendors, currently x3 bonus points per dollar

With some embarrassment (due to it being of a personal benefit to myself) if you do apply and are approved via this link, I must disclose that I will receive 100K pts.

I also have a referral link for this promotion which is arguably the best value Amex Plat Charge sign up bonus offered in recent memory.

You can earn 300k MR plus a $500 statement credit if you apply as a new customer, are approved, and spend $5000 in 3 months.

A brief summary of benefits:

- No preset spending limit and uncapped earning at a rate of 2.25 MR per dollar spent with a wide range of partner programs and redemption options
- Shop Small promotion offering a total of 5.25 MR points per dollar at eligible merchants
- Elite status with major hotel chains including Hilton, Marriott, Radisson and Accor
- $450 travel credit with Amex Travel
- Accor Plus membership including a free night certificate, up to 50% off your bill at Accor restaurants, and 'red hot' deals (which can offer some excellent savings)
- Digital subscription to The Australian for primary and supplementary card holders
- Access to special deals/perks via Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts, The Hotel Collection, and International Airfare Program
- Access to over 1000 lounges globally, including Virgin Australia lounges, American Express lounges, Priority Pass, Plaza Premium, Delta Skyclub
- 2 x $75 annual credits to use with NET-A-PORTER / MR PORTER
- Up to 4 free supplementary cards for family or friends

Please consider using my referral link if you find my posts on AFF informative or useful to you. I will earn 100k MR for successful referrals.

Refreshing my link as well. It is now:

hi all - not really on topic i know - but if i could have some latitude :)

what are your experiences in the timing of receiving the referral bonus points? shortly after an approved application? after the month the annual fee is paid in the new account?

i ask because a friend will refer me, however they will close their account by the end of june to avoid the annual fee - will that be enough time for them to collect the bonus points? or should i use someone else's referral code?

cheers

In my experience, referral points are usually paid within about a week of an approved application. I'm not sure exactly what the timing corresponds to - possibly the new card being activated?

The day after being approved . They can also downgrade account to a free product instead of closing - until the points are received .
