AMEX platinum Accor plus reinstated

Seems a big shame they didn't include platinum status with Accor this time. We have been purchasing this card since they took away this benefit. We have managed to convince them to maintain our platinum status but I guess now no longer.

I agree, but I'm actually thinking I might just keep buying the card rather than taking the freebie. In some years getting free lounge access would have been worth much more to me than the free night and other Accor+ benefits.

Anyone got the AFR subscription or AccorPlus yet? Still haven't heard anything from Amex.

Maybe do both, one in your name and one in partner? Or just not advising Amex of the existing membership? Seems a waste of a free night otherwise

Have you enrolled and you're waiting to hear back with account details or are you expecting Amex to reach out to you to tell you about the benefits?

If the latter, the new benefits are available online for enrollment right now - the CSR I spoke with the other day said that those benefits are available straight away (ie don't have to wait for next annual fee to be charged)

Are you referring to Accor Plus? If that's the case does it mean they told you that if you currently have a paid Accor Plus subscription you simply enrol using your current Accor Plus membership number and the renewal fee will be waved at renewal time?

I'm not a current accor plus member so didn't ask that specifically. For many of the other memberships I've had to create a new one to have Amex benefits applied.
You may want to go into the enrol page and then see whether the accor plus form allows you to nominate an existing account. Doesn't sound like there's any benefit for you until your paid membership is over though

I have enrolled since it came out but still waiting for account details.

I enrolled on Friday last week. Just received a welcome email from Accor Plus.

Are you existing card member or new member joint under the new benefits?

Mine's are still in pending status. Enrolled when it just came out.

I'm an existing member. And now just got an email from AFR on successful subscription.

I'm an existing member.

Just to clarify, did you already have a paid Accor Plus membership and after enrolling on the AMEX website you received an email confirmation from Accor Plus telling you the membership with be free going ahead? I'm in this situation and I want to make sure Accor don't stuff things up ;)

Sorry, just confirming I'm an existing AMEX Plat member and never had Accor Plus before. I thought AMEX membership was what liuyz was referring to.

I actually received two emails. One I believe is the standard welcome to Accor Plus email with membership number etc and the other was titled "Your complimentary membership to Accor Plus, courtesy of American Express". That included a sales order attachment with a line item "AUS & AP PARTNER MBERSHIP AMEX 2018" total $0.00.
So, sorry I'm not sure what would happen if you are already an Accor Plus member.

Thanks for confirming. Just got AFR confirmed. Still waiting for the Accor Plus.

Enrolled for AFR last Thursday, activation email came today.
Enrolled for Accor Plus last Thurs, no contact yet.
Also got the formal glossy brochure from Amex today outlining the new benefits. The brochure specifically mentions Amex Platinum Reserve Credit Card and its $400 travel credit, fee free, as a benefit of the Platinum Charge (so no changes there).

The letter accompanying the brochure mentions an increase in my professional association rate of $250 to $1200, so the same increase as regular members. Hopefully this sticks and they don't go playing around with this again anytime soon.

Interesting as it had felt more and more 'under the counter' of late
