AMEX platinum Accor plus reinstated

I currently pay $349 to renew Plat status each year - Silver status for free with no room upgrade and no breakfast will cost me more than the total $1,450 ann fee!

Agree. I am only signing up for the one free night. Would not even bother otherwise. Why you would actually pay $395 for only Silver benefits in unclear. Even the HH Gold status benefit is of more value to me.

Disappointed that accor platinum status is not included. With the price hike, we should expect more!

One thing I was unaware of with the Platinum, but probably makes me even more likely to apply, despite the fee hike, is that I didn't know that all platinum card holders could access Priority Pass lounges with a guest - I understood this was limited to the primary card holder and one supplementary card holder, but AMEX told me last night that every supplementary card holder has their own access and can bring a guest - that makes it extra appealing for my circumstances!

Really?! I understood the same way as you did! This might be new.

Can confirm that you can bring a total of 4 people into airport lounge where PP is accepted. Have did this two years ago without a problem. Hope that helps.

Interesting! The amex rep I spoke to was very clear that every card member can access and each one can bring a guest - I gave her my situation (6 guests - 2 supp cards) and she said we would all be allowed access. It does seem a bit too good to be true though...

I would get that verified as last time I check and tried to maximise PP access I was only allowed to apply for one additional PP card. It even has a portal where you apply the PP.

I thought it was each PP card holder (2 per Amex Charge) that could bring in a guest
My mother-in-law has my extra PP. No option coming up for Mrs andye to get one
Of couse each Amex cardholder can get into the Amex lounge with guest (+children)

I would say it is too good to be true.

From the Amex website, only ONE of your supplementary card members can also get a seperate card -

The American Express Global Lounge Collection provides access to over 1,200 Airport lounges across 130 countries including access to Priority Pass. The world’s largest independent airport lounge program. One of your Supplementary Card Members will also receive complimentary membership to Priority Pass, plus you can both bring a guest into Priority Pass lounges at no additional cost

Thanks. That was my understanding as well. Next time I speak to amex, if I get the same information, I will direct them to look at their website and report back!

Wanted to press the big enroll button last night for the Accor and AFR subscription but since I renewed in May, decided I'll call to confirm. Just called and the rep said I am entitled to all the benefits now except for the increase in travel credit. Also said those with renewal (not new applicants) prior to Nov 1 also have the reduced fee and reduced travel credit (so old annual fee and travel credit but with the added benefits).
Saw this thread and decided to ask about PP as well and they said that hasn't changed which is only one supp card holder.

Thanks for clearing that up JF - it looks like I was certainly given the wrong information on that!

Curious on the comments Re Accor plus silver. Are you only after the free night, but want lounge/breakfast with it? HH Gold (but no free night) isn’t appealing?

The increase in annual fee to include Accor plus plus the increased travel credit seems reasonable, bearing in mind the original travel credit was introduced to cover the removal of Accor plus a couple of years ago

Wait are you saying the AFR is free for Amex Explorer?
Gives me option to select an explorer card to sign up for the subscription. Whether you can access that screen without platinum charge, or if it actually works after signing up, is a different matter and something I don’t know the answer to

I do not know how I ever ended up Accor Plat - may have been a former CC but certainly not through stays with Accor - but I now pay $349 to renew Plat each year with 1 x FREE night included / room upgrade if available / Exec Lounge access / FREE breakfast. Silver status gives you none of these.

I spend 20+ nts in Sofitel Hyland Shanghai each year - I email Reservations Manager direct and she always allocates me CHEAPEST room rate and UPGRADES me to Junior Suite / Prestige Suite with Exec Lounge access and full breakfast - easily $100+ value per night - in my situation the addition of Accor Silver is valueless.

I spend 5+ nts in Sofitel Hyland Shanghai each year, they upgrade me to Prestige Suite nearly 50% chance.

I already have a (paid) Accor Plus membership and I'm at Accor Platinum level. So, great to see AMEX will cover my Accor Plus yearly fee comes renewal time, having said that knowing Accor I'm wondering how they are going to manage this (moving from Paid to AMEX "sponsored" Accor Plus membership) as they are notorious for stuffing up simple things like this.

My Accor Plus renewal is due in November so I'll probably sit on the fence for a while and see how others in my same situation are doing...
