Amex Gold Charge card referral plus potential fee free Platinum Edge
Hi
As per the new referral guidelines, let me know if you are interested in a referral for the Amex gold charge card.
If you sign up for this card directly with Amex you don't get any sign on bonus points, but by referral you get 30,000 MR points and I get 10,000 MR points.
Gold Charge Card gives one MR point per $1 except for utilities, insurance(except those issued by Amex) telecommunication providers & gov bodies (yep the ATO).
The card has no annual limit on point earn and the annual fee is $130 +$80 enrollment in the Membership Rewards Ascent.
Once you have the Gold Charge Card, you can apply to add a companion Platinum Edge Credit Card added to your account and have the annual fee waived. I highlight apply because there is no guarantee you will get the card, it is a separate application (and I confirmed on the phone to American Express a separate credit inquiry on your Veda account) some people on AFF have had issues with securing the Platinum Edge credit card after they already held the Platinum Charge Card. I didn't have an issue getting the card nor a friend I referred recently, but it is worth mentioning.
If you do get the Platinum Edge Credit Card, this card comes with a free domestic flight on Virgin Australia and earns 3 points per $ at major supermarkets and 2 points per $1 at major Petrol stations.
So if you are able to get both, it is a good combination of cards for $210 annual fee + 30,000 MR points.
It is also worth noting Amex states if you have had an American Express direct issued card in the past 12 months they won't pay the bonus points. Supplementary cards are fine as are bank issued American Express cards.
Cheers
