Member Advantage (Professionals Australia/APESMA and various other orgs) is still showing Gold, Plat Edge and Plat Charge available, "Apply by 31 August 2017" (or maybe not)?

As long as my standalone Plat Reserve doesn't get enhanced, I'm going to hold on to it for as long as possible..

Still showing on the EA website as well for applications up to 31 August -

i'm seeing same on chartered accountant website- and thinking about applying for the 100k sign up bonus as have a trip in 2018 planned where i could use the 'manufactured' points to SQ.

for the person who said $700 travel credit - how does that work?

those who hold the card - do you find the benefits worthwhile? i.e. do you use FHR, or the other add-ons besides the travel credit and decent earn rates?

The Charge comes with a $300 travel credit and the companion Reserve credit card (apply for separately with no annual fee) comes with a $400 travel credit. This gives a total of $700 travel credit.

As the net cost is only $250pa ($950-$700), I find I get some value using PP and from statement credits etc to make it worthwhile. Hilton Gold and other hotel status is also handy.

My professional body has confirmed that this change was initiated by AMEX and the writting is on the wall in regards to the $950 staying the same. Does not look good and more than likely that AMEX will revise the fee to normal at the next renewal.

The benefits are handy from time to time. I have used Priority Pass and VA lounge access.

Travel credits need to be used one at a time which is a little annoying.

By the far the best 'benefit' to offset the annual fee is the statement credit deals.

ahh right - think i'll take the plunge then! just to confirm before I do, are QFF a transfer partner? (my plan c/d but have a small existing balance to combine if i go that route)

QFF are a partner for the Charge card (Ascent Premium) but not for the lower reward programmes associated with the other cards.

I note that the EA notation has already been dropped from my card titles in 'My Account' (along with the Edge branding on my Edge). They do not stuff around....

yes! Amex Memership Rewards Ascent Premium comes with QFF as a partner.
Now consider adding the Explorer and link it to the Ascent premium and enjoy 2 miles per $ spent. Has a $395, but comes with $400 credit so cost neutral.

Just to update, my annual fee has just been charged and it is still at the reduced rate of $950 despite the relationship with EA having ended and despite me having had a new card issued a couple of months ago due to fraud.

Thanks for the data point. Amex and Chartered Accountants also end their arrangement on 30 June so good to hear the reduced annual fee still applies.

No problem. Hopefully, the annual fee is grandfathered for the life of the card.

For those who are still subscribed to this thread, according to the letter I received from Amex yesterday, the EA discount still apllies after the upcoming annual fee increase so the new annual fee will be $1200.

Same same Law NSW Card.

And AMA card. The letter I got confirming the change actually said "all professional associations" were effected.
