So I bought a Samsung phone using this card, via PayPal, in August/September 2023.

The phone has developed a screen fault and is outside of Samsung's derisory 12-month warranty.

I cannot work out if my AmEx card gives me the extra 12 months warranty.

I've read the insurance document, and I'm still unclear.

You should be asking for a remedy under Australian Consumer Law anyway, as warranties are in addition to your rights under the law. A phone should last longer than 12 months....

I've read the insurance document, and I'm still unclear.

Not sure why it's unclear, the PDS is quite straight forward.

The only retail purchase cover you have on that card is for stolen or damaged items within 90 days of purchase, or those retailers accept back as a return.

If it was Samsung Australia, it should be two years ( Samsung Product Warranty Information | Samsung Australia )

Interesting. I can't find any information in my email or Samsung account about the warranty length, thoughthere is some guff about "Free Samsung Care+, 1 year device program".

I shall contact them. I suspect it's accidental damage, though, (dead pixels) which the credit card was more likely to cover than Samsung is...
