From last night AA.com has increased the discount from 35% to 50% if you buy 150,000 or more Miles. The limit is 300,000 Miles in a year.
Well that fixed some Christmas presents.
If anyone has a good handle of the value of a point / mile in various reward programs it is @cove ! If they are buying that is as good a recommendation you can get.
Well I did a search today on AA to help answer a new contributor in another thread.
So 2 searches.
BNE-HND and in october 23 up until 22/10 could get 2 J awards every day. Only once on what I could have made a direct flight. It was JL out of Sydney. The commonest availability was BNE-NAN-HND, Sometimes BNE-SYD-HKG-HND on CX.
But all of them cost 40K points and <$100 in taxes.
The second search was SIN-LHR. 1 award most days from April on either SIN-CMB -LHR or SIN-HKG-LHR.
But 24/12 2 J awards on BA16 and 27/12 and 29/12 2 J awards on BA12.
And 3 days in January 3 days with 2 J awards via DOH.
All cost 75K points + not very much in taxes.
