The QF J and F amenity packs have been discussed many times over the years, but I do not recall a thread that compares the various J and F packs, so I thought I'd kick it off.

J

Qantas - Putting aside the ugly boxes (not much better than the old hard ones), this is pretty good. And QF definitely gets the gong for the PJs.

Cathay - pretty good, and at least they got the bag right.

BA - decent pack, but rubbish ear plugs

SQ - worst pack I have ever come across in J - coughpy eye shade and a pair of slippers (ok, they have other stuff in the bathrooms, but it just doesn't compare to the others).

AA - consistent with all other things done by US airlines - middling.

F

Cathay - have to be one of the best - particularly the PJs

QF - pretty good

I'm sure there are others I have views on, but just don't recall at the moment, as the above airlines cover almost all of my recent travel.

others?

I like the QF F packs better, obviously have alot more stuff! I do not have F PJ's, so not sure what they look like..

CX J Female Ammenities looks OK too, no picture, but my Mum said it was nicer than the QF J one.

Have obtained some QF J ones in the past, to give to family as gifts/mementos of flying, but no photos ...

Obviously the QF Y ones (new one) are pathetic! Not sure it warrants a pic, but I have one somewhere at home if anyone is interested. Let me know.

LOL us plebs are under-represented, so here's one:

SQ Y - pair of socks and a toothbrush in a khaki / brown(?) top-zip pouch.

Supposedly designed by Givenchy... I don't know why he bothered.

I don't have a photo, but the Finnair J Pack from 2008 (it may still be the same) was brilliant. Good selection of amenities, and I still use the pack as my "travel wet pack" for every single trip (I have a larger leather pack that I check-in, but I use the Finnair pack for anything I want to carry on - small deoderant, toothbrush, facewash etc...)

I'd rate it the best J pack I've found in terms of re-usability. Then again, apparently the old Qantas hard cases made pretty good crayon holders for kids. :D (I always used to give them away).

Agree with you on the AA J pack, although the bag doubles nicely as a shoe bag. :)

Cheers,
- Febs.

PS: Any WP's ever had any luck asking for an F amenity kit while flying in Y? I asked for a J one the other day (when the very friendly CSM dropped by for a chat), but I might try my luck for an F kit next time. :)

I haven't bothered asking for the F pack, but I do try to get them to bring me the F champagne when it's something special (eg dom), and I've been pretty successful with that

Ah nice. :) I always ask for a glass of Noble One (F-only) after dinner and I've been 95% successful with that (the only time I wasn't successful I was in J!) Last time they brought me a HUGE glass of it too.

Cheers,

Febs, perhaps you're talking about this Finnair J pack?

Air China J pack - like a game of two halves. Outside the pack looks like a stylish Givenchy purse, inside it's full of cheap plastic tat that would cost 30c to put together.

Ohh.... I wish I didn't know they served noble one in F! Yummo!

I actually think the J amenity kits on QF are rubbish - the Korner stuff is all a bit random and weird - and is the same between men and women.

mrssimongr does like the BA F velvet kits...

the official opinion of my arbiter of style (aka middle delinquent masquerading as a 15yo girl) is that her fave of all the ones i have brought home is teh emirates business pack
At least from the point of view that the bag still gets used

All the QF j and f ones are still sitting in a pile waiting to be raided to resupply the emirates bag!

The AA j one is useful for camping and hanging in amenities blocks!

I agree with simongr...I think the QF J kits are lame although I love the pj's and the throw away socks are pretty good. I'm still bitter that they took out the little cans of shaving cream from the old old packs (pre the little plastic box), they were great for domestic trips with no checked luggage.
