Hi folks,

Anyone got any opinions on how worthwhile Intercontinental Ambassador is? I'm actually more often in HIs and other brands than Intercontinentals, so I'm a bit doubtful.

Also, how long does it take for Ambassador status to kick in after joining? I might end up with a long stay in the IC Wellington early this year, but probably won't know until a week or so beforehand. I figure if I'm there for that long, then Ambassador is probably a good plan, but will I be able to arrange it in time?

Danny

Oops - never mind the second question, I just found the FAQ!

I am also interested in any ones opinions on this program;

I have a stay coming up; well a few that I have the option of the IC properties and wondering whether it is worth the price.

The Ambassdor program is only good for actual IC stays, if you intend to stay at one for a friday or saturday night you will get your money in using the BOGO that comes with membership.

Having said that I would probably suggest the priority privilege program would be worth joining first, it does not offer the same benefits but does offer BOGOs x 2 that dont have weekend restrictions (but are capacity limited and can be used for suites) and the monthly specials mean often the two certs you get can be saved as frequently they have specials that offer a BOGO without using the cert. I have saved around $1-2K this year with the program and the fact the benefits can be used for business stays at all brands on weekdays.

You could in fact use the PP program to get discount rates for three IC stays, then get free AMB membership by using the promotion code for stay 3 get free AMB if it still works.

Once you have stayed 50+ nights in total at any ICH property but including three separate IC's you will get RA status is you are an AMB, which means free mini bar and early checkin/checkout. ICH hotels are well dispersed in Australia providing many earning opportunities and we now have 4 IC's, so the program benefits inculding pointbreaks can readily be utilised. For instance I had one two night stay at Burswood that racked up 17000 points owing to a few promotion codes falling, that was good enough for three free nights at IC Burswood last month for the inlaws - nice brownie points were archieved given they had costed a night there previously at $300!

PP doesn't really work for me - I don't make the bookings or (assuming someone eventually approves my expense reports!) pay the bills. Ambassador's tempting due to the extra perqs while staying...

I've tried registering for a couple of promos and the website doesn't complain, will let people know if they work!

Danny

If you are rarely staying at ICs then there is little point to Ambassador membershop since it only applies to stays at ICs. Priority Club status is what is useful at the other brands such as HIs and CPs .

Is it worthwhile for frequent IC stays Dave? I mean, I can buy a fair amount of fruit and water for USD$150 - is there much worthwhile in a room upgrade for a single business traveller? It's not like most ICs basic rooms are unbearable!

It is not too hard to get value from the USD150 joining fee / USD100 renewal fee

For joining/renewing, you get a voucher for 5000 PC points and
A Free weekend night certificate ( pay for 1 night , get one night free )

The certificate can be worth most of the fee if you have an opportunity to use it

Plus of course, the regular stay benefits of the room upgrade plus free movie per stay

Also, with the Ambassador Accelerator bonus, you will get 20,000 PC points for every 15 night stays at ICs

If the voucher is likely to be used ( and not just making a stay in order to use the voucher of course ) then worth joining

If you are having frequent stays and are likely to stay around 50 nights in PC hotels with stays at 3 different ICs, then likely to attain Royal Ambassador status which then gives benefits such as guaranteed suite or club room plus free minibar which would make the USD150 to becone an ambassador worthwhile

It is worth doing your homework before you start registering for promos/codes. The best source of information is the Flyertalk forum on Priority Club provided you have the patience to wade through the mire. Registering for some codes will exclude you from access to others and most of us have learnt this by bitter experience.

My last renewal I did using 20,000 points (which is really 15,000 after getting 5,000 back). I find it worth it even staying only a few times a year at an ICH.

Ambassador is worth to join. If you pay 150$ on the IC hotels. Sometimes they can provide some additional benefits. Otherwise, call the hotline and use 24000 points and you can also get Ambassador immediately

Hi All
Does anyone know of a valid code for this promo? Stay 3 and get AMbassador status?
Thanks

I've already got Platinum Priorityclub status.

Is the Ambassador membership worth the extra cost? I'm about to book 2 IC stays (1 week stay at each).

If you refer to #8 by Dave Noble I think you will find he has answered your question.

Well, I'll be at the IC Wellington for 3 weeks from next week, hoping my newly-purchased Ambassador does in fact do something useful!

Don't forget to register for the Accelerator Ambassador bonus. Stay 15 nights at InterContinental Hotels & Resorts locations and earn 20,000 bonus points.

Already done!

Although the promo system for PC is confusing and annoying. For instance, I have a few promos registered, but I have absolutely no idea how many points I'll be earning for this stay... Grrr...
