Am I too naive with Qantas?

Was very suprised to learn that you only get free beer and wine on weekdays between sydney and melbourne. I am confused why you would dilute a premium product with such penny pinching.

in any case i made up for it in the F lounge on way to Europe, and I did get a 'would you like another ginger beer mr jones' on the plane from someone who hadn't greeted me so i will give them points for the WP study

mods, i guess you can put this in the 'F lounge rambling about QF section' ;)

I heard an excuse before that during weekdays there are more business travellers who need to relax with an alcoholic drink or two on the way home so that's why this service is offered only on weekdays.
I think it's a lame accuse that doesn't make any sense and agree it's totally penny pinching.

It's due to competition. IE: they want economy class passengers travelling during week to choose them because of the free alcohol. Competitive issues not as important on weekend.

Actually you get it on all City Flyer services after 4pm and those involving Perth after 12 noon. Not just SYD-MEL. but as with all decisions of QF subject to change.

The history of beer and wine on domestic flight is that it was always chargeable. Qantas just added some exceptions that made it be complimentary on particular routes and times. So it was actually the opposite of penny pinching....

Indeed. Its an added free service designed to appeal to the business travelers. But any excuse to whine about Qantas will be found and a thread created.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

It coughs me off that same service not offered on country runs... ie PER-KTA (1:40 flying time) when we usually pay a premium for the flight as well.

Wasn't there a bit of hoo haa about QF removing (correct me if I am wrong) full strength alcohol (or was it booze full stop, I can't remember) off the flights from the FIFO towns out west?

No spirits unless in business class and no full strength beer. Stupid thing is that many FIFO's get upgraded into business class and get straight into the Jack.
