Am I Silver or not?

I am currently Qantas Silver, at the end of the month I will fly to USA and will get enough Status credits to retain Silver.
My Silver Card expires at end November. I should retain Silver with the Int flight and some AA trips but when I fly back here in early December what will I be?
The trip back will give me SC for the next year. I booked a few extra days on purpose, no point getting 400 SC when 260 will do to retain Silver.
My new Silver pack will be sent to my Aust address I presume some time in December, or maybe January. My old card will be expired, I will be in the USA with nothing??
I guess I will still be Silver in the booking system computer?
Can I claim to be Silver with no card to show in the USA or back in Aust?? When I get back to BNE can I use my old Q bagtags or do they expire with the card?

Can anyone confirm my thoughts or advise?

Thanks

Your Q bag tags will continue to work no matter what status you are.

I've not experienced the US, but your ticket should note your status, even if your card is expired, however I'm not sure if you'll be asked to prove it or not with a card.

I'd have aimed for 700 if I was in the US with a few extra days to kill ;)

Thanks for the tag info, so my bags should follow me home, that is good.
There will probably be only one flight in USA back to DFW, the flight back to Aust and from BNE home in Dec when I wont have a card.
How long does the new pack take to come in the mail usually?

Just to note the Q tags don't work internationally, and if you fly DFW-BNE-SYD you should be paper tagged right through anyway.

Your Q-tags can be used by anyone.
When you scan your card or boarding pass checking in, this is scanned onto the tag.

Yes I knew that but wanted to use them on the flights to/from BNE and home.
Wondered if they "turned off" when my Silver ran out.

Also when you check in they will normally tag your bags to your final destination, even though you collect them and clear customs in BNE.
