Am I beinng petty?

Same hotel and I found a hotel lounge/bar charge of about $12 on our bill but in my sleep deprived, sinus infection stupor didnt think of it until about 2 weeks after we got home.

Yep make a complaint but don't dwell on it.

I have found giving them a chance and if corrected post the story including problems and the fix on Tripadvisor, and if not corrected post that as well. If not corrected I say I wouldn't stay there again and rate them nil on the customer service.

The only places I've ever had extra charges are in Australia, US hotels have always been kind for me.

I had a rather bad stay at a double tree hilton several weeks back in London.
As others have said i wouldnt leave it. Follow it up.

I used the online chat on the hilton site to complain about my abysmal stay and they offered me 100K points.
Which im not sure i want to go back to use so will probably see if i can convert them to QFF points somehow.

You can use 100k points at a Hilton chain property anywhere you don't have to use them at the hotel you stayed at, assuming you are a Hilton Hhonors member. Personally I value 100k at around $400-450 USD although used at certain properties you can achieve much better than that (eg a night at Conrad Koh Samui which can cost $750 or more). Otherwise you will be able to transfer into 15,000 QFF points.

I've now been advised by HH diamond desk that the charge has been reversed and should be credited to my card within 7 days. I have subsequently registered with them the details of the service failings we received at the hotel.

That 100,000 points could get you two nights at any one of many Hiltons. I value the points at 0.4 to 0.5 cents each, but can be worth more, depending upon the property (e.g., Conrad HKG).
