Alternative to TripIt = TripWaffle

The Expert Score is out of 100, built from six things:

- Aircraft types: 25 points, full marks at 40 types
- Airlines: 20 points, full marks at 45
- Routes: 20 points, full marks at 250
- Continents: 15 points, full marks at 6
- Distance flown: 10 points, full marks at 1.5 million km
- Countries: 10 points, full marks at 50

Very interesting. So I have:

Aircraft: 29/40 | Airlines: 33/45 | Routes: 190/250 | Continents 5/6 | Distance: 1,447,580/1,500,000 | Countries: 37/50 | which all translates to 87.

It's going to be hard to fly on more aircraft types: I've already flown on some which are quickly disappearing such as B727, B732, B752, B748 and A346.
I've already flown on the A320neo, A321neo, A359, B788 & B789 and (against my better judgement) the B737-MAX.
That leaves the A321XLR, A351 & B777X as far as new aircraft go. Might have to fly on some more light aircraft!

Airlines and routes I can improve by going on more holidays from Paris with my partner - the Caribbean looks nice.
Does that count as North America? I will never go to the US or Canada so that one might be tough - perhaps an Antarctic trip?
I'll reach the maximum distance with a couple more trips to Europe.
Finally if I fly to all the European countries which I've already been to by train, I'll easily hit the maximum countries.

Thank you for giving us all another game to play!

Ha, I'd invite community input on this one, however I have a feeling it could all get pretty passionate šŸ˜‰
Airports? Would show diversity within a given country.

At 211 I think I’d maintain my perfect score 🤣

Very interesting. So I have:
We fossils are at an advantage with a long flying career. I even have a B727 in my lot! But then again I’ve got a consolidation of all my B747s into one class. An artefact of a big import from Flight radar 24 which inturn had a lot of historic infills put in by me manually.

Strictly Iceland west of the on-shore rift is the North American continent. šŸ˜Ž . Maybe a quick helicopter trip from KEF to the west would do it.

EDIT / UPDATE / WOW:
I have now renamed one of the trips and discovered that the app has automatically updated the trip photo to match the new name!
Instead of a photo of the KL skyline including the twin towers, there is now a lovely photo of Pont Alexandre III at night.
This is an amazingly well-thought-out feature. You continue to surprise and impress.
A small detail I have noticed: the punctuation in the trip title can influence the selection of the destination photo.
When I changed the name of a trip to "Madrid Las Palmas & Paris" it displayed a photo of Las Palmas.
It wasn't a great photo and no one who hadn't been there would have recognised the location.
When I changed the name of the trip to "Madrid, Las Palmas & Paris" the photo changed to one of Madrid.
A much more recognisable night time photo of Gran Via.
The presence or absence of the comma determined the photo choice.

Please don't "fix" this. I think it's a great (even if unintended) way for us to influence photo choice for multi-destination trips!
I am mentioning it to make other end users aware of this little feature.

Just have to say how impressed I am with the photo archive.
I had a trip where I flew into MXP but drove straight to Bellagio without entering Milan.
So I changed the trip title from "Milan and ..." to "Bellagio and ...".
I wasn't sure it would find a photo for Bellagio as there is definitely no corresponding airport (unless George Clooney his his own helipad).
But it immediately found the most beautiful photo of a sunlit Bellagio, apparently taken from a boat on Lake Como.
Great work!

Caribbean: yes, it counts as North America for the score
Antarctica: that works too, as the score takes any 6 of the 7 continents
Finally if I fly to all the European countries which I've already been to by train, I'll easily hit the maximum countries.
There's certainly a case for including train trips here, but then cars/cruises also?

Certainly air focused and that’s a good thing but is called ā€˜Trip’Waffle.

You could just have a checklist somewhere for countries visited by any means, ( maybe producing a bar graph broken down by entry type - air, train, road, walking ) but of course you’d have to have former countries in there as well. And then you get complaints about country definitions just like there has been in a couple of threads on AFF.šŸ˜‚

I wouldn’t worry about it myself

I am quite happy to only include flights.
My partner is currently an intern at a Paris hospital so he is time poor.
I will use that as an excuse to do more intra-European flights (rather than train trips) when I am there.
