Alternative to TripIt = TripWaffle

If, say, you think it makes more sense to reduce that gap to 7 days, I'd be happy to run it against your account?
You'd go from 317 trips to 408 in that scenario.

Thanks, but no. It doesn't seem to be common going back and it might throw up something unexpected. I have a number of long overseas trips where there are up to ~12 work days not marked as anything between flights in the FR24 import (= 'gap'). As I'm editing these trips, I'm filling in these days with the client or work location (totally unnecessary from a practical point of view, but it makes a nicer picture 🙃 ).

In these cases our existing logic works in keeping this as one trip.

Core question: what defines a different trip?

Yeah, not as easy as I was thinking earlier. There are trips away from home port and back then next exit from home would be a separate trip. BUT in a number of my old trips, I was sent to nth America for work for ~ a month, and within that time I goofed off somewhere on my own dime for 3-4 days and I'm considering that a separate trip. This would be indistinguishable from a nested work trip without knowing the work/leisure reason.

Feature suggestion @tripwaffle

For activities within a trip it would be useful to have a field to mark the priority of the activity (low, medium, high or a scale 1-10) and to be able to filter by priority.

Use case: As a user plans a trip they could add multiple activities and assign a priority. The user could then determine the number of days needed in a location by filtering activities by priority. Alternatively, once an itinerary is confirmed, the user could hide or remove activities to fit the available time by using the priority filter.

A practical example: You're on a road road trip. You have a dozen possible activities between town A and town B. However, you decide to sleep in at town A then have a lazy breakfast. Setting off late for town B there's no way you'll fit all the activities in your day, so could could filter to only the ones you marked as a high priority.

Minor update- we've added a third option for importing tripit data.
Email their support and request your json data.

For those who have already imported tripit data, performing this additional import will likely fill in some details on existing events. It will not overwrite any manual edits and any trip renaming / event moving should not be an issue, as it will match at the event level, regardless of where that event is. i.e. it's quite safe to do this additional import, if desired.

Just some feedback about notifications I received yesterday. I was on QF1521 which departed & arrived a few minutes early.

So I was a bit surprised to receive a notification some time later that the flight had been cancelled.

I then was on QF35 to Singapore. While waiting at belt 14 for my bag, I received an incorrect notification that bags will be at belt 16. (Not a big deal as the correct belt number (14) was on all the information boards).

It would seem that your data sources had some issues.

First of all, my apologies for this; not really good enough on our behalf.

False flight cancellation
What happened: one of our third party data sources fired 'cancelled' status at 12:08 AEST, 3+ hours after your plane had landed.
What we've done to address: Ordinarily we'd suppress a clearly wrong 'cancelled' event if we had conflicting dep/arr events, but the same source missed reporting any dep/arr events too. We now block cancellations when current time is >1h past estimated_in as a primitive measure. Also exploring pulling data directly from QF now in order to expand our pool.

Wrong bag claim number
What happened: both a third party data source and SIN airport reported consensus on baggage_claim=16 over an hour before arrival.
What we've done to address: not much in the short term tbh. One of the challenges with baggage claims is its very hard to gauge accuracy of our data as there's no way to determine truth, without reports like yours. Direct data from QF may also assist though, which we'll explore.

Thanks for reporting.

@tripwaffle I have registered with Tripwaffle using my desktop. I want to log on using a web browser with my android but do not want to install the app.

How do I do this as the "or continue on the web" link appears insensitive, both on Chrome for android and Samsung Browser?

The two buttons on the home page "Continue with Google" or "Continue with Apple" should work for you allowing you to login just in your mobile web browser- I've just tested with Chrome browser on Android.

If still no luck, please email tripwaffle AT fastmail DOT com and we can run some specific diagnostics to figure out what's going on.

Thankyou, those buttons looked to me like App download short cuts.

However, on proceeding it asks for my gmail account.

I do not want to use a gmail account for Tripwaffle. Nor, if I were to set up a gmail account, do I want to have to add that profile to my device.
