So for all late deliveries Boeing has to pay the airlines that have ordered them?

At a maximum unit cost of about $200 million, they've effectively given away 25 for free! Crazy.

Whilst I'm sure that Boeing don't want to give anything away for free, the fact that they are looking at a second production line for the 787 would mean that they predict a very healthy profit to follow.
