So for all late deliveries Boeing has to pay the airlines that have ordered them?

At a maximum unit cost of about $200 million, they've effectively given away 25 for free! Crazy. :shock:

I am not sure that Boeing would use the word 'crazy' to describe this.

Whilst I'm sure that Boeing don't want to give anything away for free, the fact that they are looking at a second production line for the 787 would mean that they predict a very healthy profit to follow.
