Noted on nyc787 blog that the 9th JQ 787 delivery is likely before end April which may prompt one of the 3 remaining JQ 330-200s to visit the paint shop

Delivery dates on nyc787 are estimates at best. It's now pushed out to the end of May and I'm guessing Jetstar requested a delayed delivery as all the other birds built at the same time have been delivered and VH-VKJ still hasn't had her first flight. I believe the first estimated delivery date was early March.

The next Jetstar route to switch from A330 to 787 is MEL-NRT which is currently scheduled for the 10th July. Based on this Jetstar would probably want delivery in late June.

Yes I too have heard it'll be two international configured A332's. From what i've heard it's VH-EBH/EBI which will leave the fleet. VH-EBG/EBL will remain for CGK and HNL runs.

You would think the better thing to do would be nominate two of the latter model -200's with fixed IFE as the 'international' subfleet and treat (EBG/EBL) as domestic, as they would be no different to the rest of the early builds, especially with the news the earlier a/c are getting the old seats out of the -300's.

Not sure if this comment has been made ... and whilst not J it does relate to the new config A330s.

In Y ... if you open the tray table (a folding type) and then the pax in front fully reclines, you can no longer seem to return the tray table to the fully closed position. It seems we could only fold it half way, but not fully retract it into the seat.

I must admit the entertainment system is very nice vs the old system.

SYD-MEL is only getting a few flights for positioning purposes, so would be a low probability. Even if scheduled as a new aircraft this far out, changes are always possible and indeed likely.
An expert flyer subscription will show you the J seat map.

For a 60min flight you don't need a lie flat bed anyway

My MEL-SYD tomorrow is on a refurb'd 332 - I will be making use of the flat bed ;)

Looks like I am going to flying on VH-EBB in J can any one tell me what seats they have and should I change flights MEL-PER

You may almost have time between the seat belt lights to get almost horizontal before you have to prepare for landing ;)

Not quite..I'll be trying out the recline for taxi and takeoff

So I'm flying to SIN on the refurbished 330 for the first time today and J availability still shows I9...unfortunately I booked a non-upgradable sale fare:(

Ring up and see if they will release a seat for you. If you have 60,00 points. I don't know if they can / will release it on the day of departure though.

Didn't think of that, but I guess this would create a no show or cancellation fee on the other ticket.

I was secretly hoping to get an "upgrade bid" email this week but it seems these are only sent to people with upgradable fares.

Well the 'recline for takeoff' feature of the new seats is hilarious, less recline than an economy seat- more like lumbar support.

Don't hold up much hope for these seats lasting long they look far less sturdy than the skybed 2

I have just bought some AA points with the intent of booking some PER-SYD J flights in September.

Is there any way of checking to see if potential flights are scheduled to be in the new configuration before I book? Obviously they could be subbed out before I fly but I would much prefer new J (I also have the option to book with VA instead but would prefer to use these for some SYD-MEL in May as the availability is better.).

I am not that familiar with the QF site but it only seems to just say A332 with a link to all the potential seat maps for that aircraft.

Lucked out twice on trying the new refurbed A330-200 in J. SYD-PER QF583 scheduled with new seats had an aircraft swap a day before. PER-SYD on QF580 again swapped out on the day. EF was still showing new J layout as of this morning. Instead aircraft swapped to A300-200 International

I have a short flight tomorrow - about a month ago I noticed the seat map changed to the new configuration.

This has held so far, with less than 24 hours to go; although there was a change - it was to be operated by EBA, now 'tis EBV.

Looks like VH-EBS is finally in for refurbishment. It's been at BNE since 26/4 after operating QF650, although it could be in for just regular maintenance. We'll give it a week at least to confirm it.
