There is plenty of time between now and October. I'd be checking the seatmap much closer to the date.

Thanks mannej. Just thought it strange that there appears to be a different plane on the Saturday to the other days.

QF Planes aren't fixed on a route, so they fly all over the place... depending on maintenance, where there have arrived from, planning, things going tech etc etc

My A330 flight from SIN in Nov was on a non-refurb flight, but seems to have updated recently to a refurb'd bird. This may change before November.

Until all the A330s are finished (and we're on the home stretch), there will still be some flights with older product.

I had no idea that there is a Saturday SYD-BNE A330-300 service, but seemed a good reason to book a day trip to BNE to see the new niece so off we go in suites, subject to last minute equipment swap, but I'd imagine this equipment is needed for an international ex-BNE flight later that morning, so chances are good. Looking forward to trying them short haul before SYD-BKK rtn in October (again subject to subbing of a nasty non refurb 332!

More news from YSSY that VH-EBC back in for scheduled maint now and due out mid-July (it had already had 11 days off line in BNE in May) with EBO and EBQ to replace EBC/EBR in mid-July...

VH-EBC back to normal duties this morning, and appears that VH-EBQ may have entered maintenance, having arrived last night.
VH-EBR is due out early next week with VH-EBO the likely replacement)

If this happens in the next week, it will leave only three non-refurbs operating
- The two SkyBed I aircraft - EBG, EBL
- The remaining 2x3x2 Recaro workbench aircraft - EBP

In recent weeks
EBG appears to operate most SYD-HNL rotations, while
EBL alternates SYD-BKK, SYD-HKG and SYD-PVG

Interesting my QF41 on the 6th Jan 2017 Sydney to Jakarta has been changed from new suites to an old skybed Mark 1 lay out. This has only happened in the last couple of days.

I thought that they are all supposed to be done by then?

Any one have any ideas?

Looks like EBP or EBO is operating PER-BNE tomorrow afternoon as J has changed to the old J seating (and the exit row in Y is row 44). Only a 2/16 chance but I was unlucky enough to get it.

The thing that annoys me the most about the swap is QF will not let me drop back to Y without massive change fees.

I assume seat maps show the current configuration for an aircraft - rather than the seatmap that may be in place as far out as January?

The seat maps for both flights where originally the new config but have changed in the last few days.

It may indicate that QF are indeed way behind, or feel that they will be, with the re configurations.

My concern is that the seats I wanted and booked may no longer be available if or when it reverts back to the new suite lay out.

Not that this helps but I perhaps should have given more of an explanation in my comment/query. I assume it was anticipated your routes would be on certain aircraft which have already been refurbished - hence until now they were showing the refurbed configurations. Now they have scheduled different aircraft, which happen not to have been refurbed (to date) hence showing old config.

But I'm just speculating. Maybe the schedule is slower. In any event, it's a long time until January so several aircraft swaps are to be expected before then.

Doesn't help re seat selection, I agree. I'd pick the seat you want as if it's a refurbed flight. An EF seat alert could also help you in this case.

I think it just suggests the plane allocated had changed to a plane currently refurbished. When that plane is refurbished the map will up date.

Everything indicates refurbishment is on track.

Will need to update seats though.

.

Per the last update only four non-refurb still flying (and possibly down to three in the next week

I would suspect that they plan for a set aircraft to operate the flight and that aircraft has a seat map loaded in the system. They can't have 2 different configs loaded for the same aircraft, so the system can't display a future config.

Which seat maps?
As far as I have seen the QF website just shows all possible seat plans for the aircraft type.
Expertflyer shows a specific seatplan but the allocated aircraft might change.

The seat plan when in manage my booking and you go to select seat.

My limited knowledge of the A330 is that all of the 300s are done, and just a couple of 200s to go.

I think that each aircraft can have only 1 seat map assigned at any one time. So if you see the old seat map, it means that the aircraft allocated currently is performing flights in its old config, awaiting refurb. Once it goes into the workshop, the new seat map will appear.

No I was referring to the seat maps for the aircraft type which you see pre-booking confirmation.
Sadly Qantas only let you see the actual aircraft layout after you book.
Not a problem for those of us with an Expert Flyer subscription but it is for the rest.
