On Easter Sunday, 16 April 2017, B789 JA837A on NH879, the overnight from HND to SYD is expected to arrive at 0902, 32 minutes late. It is very unusual for either NH or competitor JL to be late, but this is partly due to being placed in a holding pattern slightly to Pokolbin's west.

NH has a good timekeeping record but on Friday 16 June 2017, NH879, the overnight HND - SYD (B789 JA837A) should arrive 42 minutes late at 0912 hours.

It is most unusual to note two significantly late NH flights into or out of SYD in a month, so punctual is it normally, but on Monday 26 June, B789 JA837A on NH879, the overnight from HND down to SYD should arrive 68 late at 0938 hours. This aircraft stables until NH880 at 2055 hours tonight ex SYD.

Saturday 29 July has NH879 (B789 JA882A) from HND to SYD likely to arrive at 0913 hours, 43 minutes late.

On Monday 9 October, NH879 from HND to SYD (B789 JA887A) is arriving at 1002 hours, 32 minutes late.

On Dec 14, NH879 HND-SYD (787 - JA895) departed at 1 25. It arrived at 12 22, 147 min behind schedule.

The storms that hit Sydney from 1715 hours on Saturday 5 January 2019 have caused all manner of problems for airlines with QF25 from SYD to HND suffering its second night of being delayed overnight.

However NH880 is operating in the shape of B789 JA896A, with this 2130 hours scheduled SYD - HND taking off late, at 2240 hours. Arrival should be at about 0541 on Sunday 6, 36 late.

When JL or NH run late, you know you have difficulties!

It is rare for NH (like JL) to be late in or out of Australia - just what one would expect from the Japanese - but Friday 28 June's NH879 (2230 hours HND - SYD that took off slightly ahead of time at 2241) has been badly delayed by a ;lengthy holding pattern south of Singleton after SYD experienced some earlier fog, so arrival for B789 JA896A should be at about 0952, 57 late. This aircraft lays over all day before departing at 2055 tonight.

On a very wet evening in SYD, Sunday 2 February 2020, NH880, the 2130 hours SYD up to HND redeye departed at about 2217 with B789 JA896A.

Thursday 7 May 2020 sees NH879, which continues to operate during coronavirus (although only three nights a week, not daily as pre the virus) as the 2230 hours from HND to SYD arrive in SYD 83 minutes late at 1018 hours. Aircraft was B789 JA885A.

NH880, the scheduled 7 May 2055 hours overnight SYD - HND has been cancelled.

During coronavirus and possibly as a result of National Cabinet having decided to further reduce the number of incoming passengers allowed to enter Australia each week to quarantine, its inbound flight and NH880, the Saturday 16 January 2021 SYD - HND has beenj cancelled.

NH had previously flown regularly to Sydney during the 'pandemic', from memory two or three times a week.

B788 JA813 is forming tonight's NH880, the 2135 hours SYD - HND at an expected pushback of 2230 hours, despite the inbound arriving nine minutes early this morning at 0946 hours.

The paucity of entries herein for All Nippon Airways doesn't prove anything because no one monitors every flight, so some delays/cancellations can be missed, but Japanese airlines have an excellent reliability and punctuality reputation.

Unusually, the Easter Tuesday NH880 (timetabled as departing SYD at 2100 hours mid evening for HND) was delayed overnight, with B789 JA894A taking off this morning at 0747 hours for mooted arrival at 1558 this afternoon, 618 minutes tardy.

On Monday 19 September 2022, NH880 (2100 hours SYD-NRT) is delayed until 2200 in its departure, presumably due to the typhoon. Aircraft is B789 JA883A.

The BOM suggests that extremely heavy storms are over SYD as at 1050 hours on Monday 12 December.

It looks like the airport may be closed to flights, as B789 JA883A on NH879, the 2250 hours Sunday 11 HND-SYD has been in a holding pattern for quite a while. Its scheduled arrival was 1035 at gate, so it's become at least 40 late.
