Flew into ASP today and thought a thread to track additions to the boneyard would be of interest es to some.

There are four additions since my last visit a couple of months ago. Three TT A320s and a RON B737. They are all rugged up though presumably not forever.

For those in the know (or speculate), how much would it cost to park up an aircraft here? If Tiger is parking theirs here, why don't JQ HK park theirs here too, could be cheaper than in France?

Airports usually have on their website somewhere, costs of parking planes.
Maybe ASP airport is too small to have prices on their website, but its not cheap to park aeroplanes.
However, if airlines have to park planes, maybe the desert like ASP airport, might be the best place, dry, not much rain, no mould, etc.
Also not too many ultra plane nuts would fly to ASP to try to steal a plane, unless they are really deep into taking one.
Imagine that parking a plane in ASP though, will be cheaper than parking a plane in say, MEL or SYD airports.

Parking them is not the issue - it is the lack of maintenance facilities. At least storing aircraft in the likes of Hong Kong means they can activate them quickly as they have people and parts to get aircraft flying again.

I was under the impression they hadn't even left France... I wouldn't imagine there's that much space at HKG.

A closer picture from a couple of weeks ago

Much obliged for the picture Captain Halliday, but I must ask ... what do you mean they are "all rugged up"? I don't see any woollies on them :)

They had wheel covers, engine covers and I think even window covers...

Took this image last week. They are 2 x A319s and 1 x A320 from tiger Singapore along with the Nauru B737. The first QF 767 is due in by the end of the month with, I believe, another 4 by the end of the year.

I thought you would have dug deeper, its $830 per aircraft per day.
So, when QF starts parking its 767s there, ASP airport ie, NT Airports will be making a lot of money out of you and I and the other mugs who still have a love spot for and still pay to fly QF!

E h, QF won't park their planes there, they go to VCV or Pinal.

I think I just got told off. ;)

I saw that figure and discounted it as it was based on RPT
Where the aircraft is parked on the RPT apron the following charges apply (except for GeneralAviation Operations or where the aircraft is parked in a leased or licensed area)

I would suggest that they are not parked on the apron rather on a leased or licensed area so the $830 does not apply.

Qantas will be parking four with the first next week OGR, however I think Westjet will be footing the bill as they supposedly have taken them.

Wikipedia claims that QF has sold the 4 767s back to Boeing who has then leased them to WS, but the linked citation is a CBC news story that only says WS is interested in wide bodies for new transatlantic service.

The first QF 767, VH-OGR is scheduled to arrive at ASP this Friday, 19/09/14 at 0840 and parked at bay 9 until 1600 before being moved to the Airpark.

Three QF 767s remain in Alice Springs. I'm only speculating but two might be being readied for departure. On Tuesday they were close to a shed with guys in fluro vests up a sepcissor lift right below the tail (Pic 1&2). The third still had wheel, engine, winds and other covers and was parked farther away. (Pic3).

Also, this afternoon there was what I think was an SQ 777. It was all white. The logos had been painted over, though not well. I caught a partial rego 9V so if not SQ certainly Singapore registered. Sorry, couldn't get a pic as I was on the wrong side with a RWY12 departure.
